I noticed on Gladys tonight that she has what looks like a bit of mould on her ear.. bit white/grey looking.. i can't see anything inside her ear, no discharge or anything and she let me touch it ok. Just wondered what it could be?

From what you describe it sounds like possible fungal to me. But I'm not sure without a photo.

If you could get one that would be great :D

Sound like it may be fungal, but if you could post a picture like the others have said and we can have a proper look. You will need to see a vet for an official diagnosis and treatment though. Also, could you confirm her age.

My Nigel used to get what was called a fungal bloom on his ear.

how do i post from my phone ? Having trouble...

Does it let you access any photos on your phone if you click on "upload a file"?

It's a little bit blurry, is she one of the babies? Is there any sign on any of the others? It does look like fungal from what I can see in the photos. Not necessarily Ringworm, but the vet would need to confirm. Young pigs can have Imaverol. which is used as a dip, but can be applied topically too. You would also need to follow the hygiene advice in the Ringworm guide. https://www.theguineapigforum.co.uk/threads/ringworm-hygiene-and-pictures.115402/

Yes, we have two babies, coming up to 11 weeks old.. no sign on pippin of the same thing. i will read the link and try and find a vet near me :( xx

Have a look on the vet locator. If the vet wants to test for fungal only Ringworm will test positive as the many other types rarely do. Where abouts are you?

i am in nottingham .. feel bad that she has possibly caught something :( x

It is pretty common at this time of year because of the weather. 2 of my own pigs have fungal at the moment. I am sure there are some recommended vets in the Nottingha, area.

none are coming up on the vet locator in nottingham at all ! how odd..

@Kerrie74 is in Nottingham so may be able to help though I think she has had mixed experiences with the vets she has been to.

The closest exotic pet vet is in Derby I'm afraid.

Now I've tried other vets and I'll name them and be honest about each

Vets 4 Pets - Mapperly - Not bad, a vet there did let one of out guinea's down and we had to have her pts in Feb, but that vet has now gone. They've always be ok with our guinea's apart from the one bad experience.

The Vet - Bilborough - Don't go there... won't go into why on a public forum, but I did do a review on their FB page if you have FB

Forest Vets - Gregory Blvd - Again not bad at all, seems to know what he's talking about in regards to piggies.

Byron Vets - Nuthall Road - Only went for a nail clip but the nurse did sort out one of our sows cysts while she was there.

I've also been told of a vet in West Bridgeford that is meant to be ok with piggies as well, Rushcliffe Vets, although I've not tried there myself as it's a bit far for us.

I hope that helps :)

THANK YOU @Kerrie74 .. that is a great help. I will the Mapperly one first as that is closest to me .. thanks for your honesty x

Sounds like you live really close to me. I thought the nearest exotic recommended vet was in Derby too but I'll have to look around. I currently use 'The Vet' in Bilborough and not had any problems with them yet. Although I've only been for very basic things.

@ayemee they are partly why we had to have Sheamus pts, we live just down the road from there in one of the Bungalows.

Oh really?! :(

I've only been for nail trimming and antibiotics. Although if I knew the problem was quite piggy specific (if that's makes sense) I'd go to an exotic vet.

Have you got good recommendations for the Vets4Pets one in Mapperly then?

I live about 5 minute drive away from there so that would be handy.
