I can't believe how much it is to have their toes clipped!

Crikey, that is one expensive toenail clip! Ive never charged for doing nails, either on dogs, cavies, birds or once even a tortoise (gulps) - I class nails as a welfare issue and would never charge. If people do offer to pay though, I say no, drop us in a cabbage when you're next passing. I'm sure my pigs approve.

I dont take any of my pigs or dogs to the vet for check ups. Friday is check up day and every animal here gets skin, eyes ears, nails, teeth etc checked. If theres a problem, then we head to the vet. The hamster managed to run himself up a bill of £5.95 the other week for two jabs and abx drops, but I have a brilliant, brilliant vet who doesn't break the bank and actually seems to like working on small beasties.

Being from the US, what conversion is pounds to dollars?
I think I paid $5 at my vets for them to clip the nails, that was before I found out that the small, private petstore near me will gladly do it for free!

1 UK pound = about 2 american dollars :)
1 UK pound also = about 2.5 Australian dollars ^-^

I did my piggies nails for the first time last night was getting sick of having to hound the OH every time they needed doing. The laid back piggie wasnt impressed as she was the one who got me to cut them not my OH.

It costs me £5.45 each pig to have their nails done and £16.50 for a check up per pig.

Id love to be able to do them myself, could someone explain how you do them and any tips?

Thanks

There is a guide to DIY nail clippings...i think its in the health section :)
