OMG was he in that little hamster cage?? SHOCKING!
I got a hamster from the free ads in one of those cages and got him a new one as i didn't even think they were sufficient for a hamster!
Bless he looks adorable, what have you named him?
Wow OMG imagine keeping the poor thing in that! I mean common sense would tell you surely, that an animal 10 times the size of a hamster needs a much bigger cage mallethead
Thank god for people like you Caroline xox
Yet another happy ending, thanks for rescuing him. Hope he gets through quarantine ok. He should have a special name seen as though he has gone from rags to riches so to speak.![]()
Gosh i think you should call him Lucky cause he is really Lucky he found you! I am really worried that they have a tortoise because they are such specialised pets and need the absolute appropriate care. You cant buy a tortoise for a kid for goodness sake!
my cousin found a tortoise in the street when he was in his early teens (possibly even 11 or 12). He took him home, had him checked at the vets, wrote to his Junior Science magazine to find out about appropriate care, etc. He's alway cared for him on his own.
Poplypheme (that's the tortoise's name, not my cousin's) was a baby then, the size of a hand and grew to adult size, ahem, 2ft-long shell (a beast), he has an enclosure in the garden, possibly 10ftx6ft with rocks, hideys, etc. Fred (my cousin) goes in the enclosure, sits on the rocks and calls him and Polypheme plods out of hiding... really cute!
Fred is passionate about amphibians and animals in general and has rescued many turtles, iguanas, etc over the years. He trained to be a vet but unfortunately he was even more passionate about partying! he's now a biology teacher and still loves animals.
What a lovely story.
