Now how much better does he look today! I see quite a difference. Delicious dinner, that is bound to cheer him up.

As everyone has already said you have already gone above and beyond what a great many people would do. I doubt some owners would even go through with treatment of such a condition for their dog or cat, and you have stayed strong and fought for your handsome guinea pig for so many weeks now.

YAY BORIS x)x)x)

awwwwwwww hello boy you're little friends down the road send you more heaps of healing wheeeeeks and loves xoxoxoxoxoxoxoxoxoxo

Tell me how are you coping ? HUGS for you too xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx
I know just what it's like with a sick piggie it's only people like on here that totally understand many many of us have nursed a sick piggie and know the stress, frustration and despair that you're going thru, keep it up love you're doing so dam well xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx

Boris is very well today, munching on his hay all day he couldnt get enough of it.i have added more chew toys and a hay rack and he is finding it much easier with so much to occupy him now.His feet are swollen but i hope his meds will help with that xxxxx

hi Glynis thankyou i am coping ok but truthfully am having trouble over coming my new fear of walking into Boris's room and finding him in a forever sleep.I just worry myself silly over this boy it scares me actually i think he may be my piggie soulmate which makes it harder if he doesn't recover but i couldn't help getting really attached he is so beautiful.i have to say a big thanks to my OH though he has helped so much with Boris these past weeks:)

hi guys thought i would let you know how Boris is doing today!he had a very slow day:(and his legs are still swollen and no movement in the pink leg yet he has been doing the looking dead thing all day i am worried but the vet said they could do blood tests and i declined i know they are not very safe for piggies so i guess i will just monitor him and take him for another checkover tomorrow I'm really counting the days now for his mental wellbeing he needs to come out of the splint but i want to try and wait until wednesday if possible anyway have to go check on my boy now xxxxx

Poor thing. 8... I dont understand why this is happening to him. </3 I wish him the best. He seems like hes fighting it though. And his poor little legs...Its so heartbreaking. Id be crying so bad if it were my piggies. Although something is wrong with Patchy right now, but he seems ok one day and the next hes not. :( I dont get it. Love and Hugs is all I can offer you...I'm sorry. I'm still rooting for the little guy. :(

Thank you. I dont know what it could be with Patchy, I mean he still eats so no idea what could be bothering him. But is Boris doing ok right now? :(

I'm not sure have you got a thread i can ready about patchy?
Boris is on a down slope i think he is very sore and depressed:( i have a feeling i might lose him i think he has just gone through too much8...

I understand totally. My baby girl Ringo is going downhill and i think i might lose her in the next week or so.
:'(
Tonight I will pray for both Boris and Ringo...

I really don't think bringing the splint off a couple of days early is going to impede his physical recovery. Given his very sensitive mental wellbeing, I'd be inclined to discuss it with the vet. For what it is worth, if he is fading (which I sincerely hope he isn't), I think it is best he have his splint off. It has been close enough to 6 weeks -that would do a human's head in, never mind a piggies! No-one knows how he will react when his splint comes off, but there will be some relief which I think he may well be in need of.

I remember right back at the beginning, you were massaging his legs - is this something you're doing now? Is there any chance the vet has bandaged too tight again?

Poor Boris - I feel the same as CCC4. Is there a chance you can talk to the piggy-friendly vet about it?

He's obviously not comfortable/in pain, hence depressed.

You've been through hell and back with Boris more than once (you probably can give guided tours, now!), so it's no wonder you are so attached to him. And he's worth it!

Big hug for both of you!

ok i will talk to the vet about it but the good vet chris doesn't get back for 2 days.yes we are still massaging his legs but they are very swollen now so it hasn't helped i will still keep up with it though,i do think the bandage is to tight particuarly on the pink leg which may be why he cant use it,so i tried just to cut a few mm of the bandage so his leg could be free but he was almost screaming in pain so i couldn't do it to him i may make a qick trip to the vets tomorrow for it,i don't want to stress him out to much right now.

thanks xxxxxx

i just want to share my support with you and boris and send lots of healing vibes for boris!
i have been following his story what a lucky boy he is to have such caring owners and i hope the vet will give you some advice about his legs today?
keep up the good work all the best to you all! - tab xx

and dishy....rolleyesrolleyes:x hopefully sharing their first name is a good sign...

This is such an amazingly emotional thread, you are an absolutely awesome owner to go through so much heartache and drama for such an absolutely adorable little guy. I have so much respect for you. Really, I do.

I'm not sure if you've looked into this, but I read about swim therapy helping pigs with walking problems. It will make him weightless so, once he gets over the terror of being in the water (you support him under the stomach) and realises you're not going to let him go, he should find it more comfortable to stretch his limbs. Perhaps you could add salt into the water to bathe his sores too? He should start to twitch his hindlegs as his instinct is to swim. Cross check it with your vet, perhaps - it's something you can look into and is sometimes used for pigs with injured backs.

Good luck. I'm rooting for both of you!

I have heard about that too... Of course, you'll have to monitor his sores too, what with them being in the water and everything...

Yes - and great care would have to be taken when you're drying him to make sure that he is dried all over without being hurt.

It's something you could speak to with your good vet to make sure that it's safe and would benefit him.

thankyou for such a nice and helpful post.I will definantly discuss it with my vet so we can start as soon as his splint is off.might be good to get the muscles and joints moving again;) xxxxxx
i am going to ring the vet today and see about getting the splint offxx

Need help with meds

hi guys i have been trying to give Boris his metronidazole for over 30mins and can't get him to take a drop its like he has clamped his jaw shut what should i do he needs it for his swelling and i have already tried to dilute it more but he still won't take it?/

I don't know, what will we do with these stubborn piggies... :)
Would it help if I took a pic of how I give my piggies their meds? I have a few stubborn ones also. It's easier to illustrate than to explain with words!

its ok now, from the time i make it up i have an hour to use it so i had to throw it I'm just worried about the swelling, i got the metacam into him with no probs apart from one thing i think his teeth are getting to long he is still eating but they are longer than my other piggies are so i might take him to the vet tomorrow to get them trimmed;).
i booked him in to have the splint removed the vet that wanted the wheels and splint left on for two weeks refused to remove it because her views are different. So i booked her into chris when he returns from holidays on wednesday.that vet just didnt give up though she kept on ringing me back trying to change my mindmallethead

Definitely don't go back to her again! It's plain wrong to be calling you to try to change your mind, she sounds too pushy for her own good. Boris is your piggie, it's your say what happens to him, and you need a vet who will work with you.

I wonder if cool compresses will help with the swelling - may be worth trying to hold a cool flannel on his legs for a few minutes a few times a day?

So we are aiming for Wednesday for the big splint-removal day - counting the hours!
