I'm hoping to get a C&C cage

It's up! I'm so happy with it 😄 When I put Eddie and Elvis in it they both started zooming and popcorning so they must be very happy with it too! The tube blends in with the fleece as well 🤣 and if course the piggie card is up on the wall behind it :)) I'll try and post a video of Eddie popcorning tomorrow

Looks fab!

It's so lovely knowing they can run like that 24/7 if they want to. In their old cage they just didn't have the space...

In fact I'll do a comparison to show just how much of an improvement this is

Old cage: only 120cm x 60cm so not even the bare minimum for boars 😟. There was pace for 2 hideys and a big pile of hay and that's about it. This cage was given to me by the rescue Eddie and Elvis came from so at first I thought it must be big enough. I don't understand why the rescue would give me a cage that's not big enough...
They don't live outside like that by the way apparently this is the only picture I have of the full length of the old cage🤣IMG_20200322_134229734_HDR.jpg

New cage: 3x4 grids C&C or 109cm x 145cm
Lots of room for zooming and popcorning. Space for multiple hay piles and water bottles decent distances apart to avoid squabbles. Plenty of room to get away from each other if need be.

To give an idea of quite how small the old one was the wooden house in the back of the new cage is the same as the one on the left of the old cage. I'm so so happy they have the space they need now 😄😄

Edit: Sorry I'm going on so much I didn't realize quite how long this message was

I felt the same when my pair went into their C&C! Took a couple of days for Jess to adjust after years in the same cage but then she was so chuffed with all the space (and that she could get away from Luigi a bit more for her snoozing!). So glad that you’re all enjoying it so much :D x

I'm glad I'm not the only one obsessing over new cages then 🤣.

There's one wierd thing I've noticed though. Eddie's started nibbling the correx. He doesn't seem to be actually biting any off just kind of nibbling. Is there any reason why he might be doing that? They've got a wooden house to chew on so I don't know what's so inviting about the correx... I've been trying to tell him off how the guinea pig whispering guide says to whenever I see him do it- stroke the ears/ under the eyes, lift the chin, stroke the ears/under the eyes again. Is that right? I'm a bit worried he might ingest plastic when I'm not there to stop him.

Some piggies just love to eat plastic (and tape) Pepper was the same when we first moved them into a C&C, I made a fabric cover and put it all around the correx to stop the issue. They don’t seem to do it now not sure what has changed, could you give them some toilet roll tubes to chew on? Both our boys love them!

Think this is why I’ve been in no rush to get correx, I have the biggest chewer going and can imagine he’ll be the same! 🙄

It’s just new and he’s probably testing if it’s tasty! I think of piggies as babies sometimes, they like to taste and stick things in their mouths to learn! It’s a new thing he can chew, just giving it a go! Hopefully he’ll get bored soon! You could stick a bit of cardboard/chewy thing etc in the areas he chews a lot, I’ve done it with Luigi’s bar biting to give my brain a rest! (Doesn’t fall for it for too long!) Hopefully he’ll get bored soon the cheeky man! :))

I'll keep an eye on him and hope he gets bored of it soon. They've never seen correx before so your right @alpacasqueak he's probably just checking it out. Your Luigi sounds very cheeky! II can imagine him saying I'm just checking if the bars taste the same as yesterday mummy... :)) :))

I'll put a loo roll or two in the cage as well in case he's decided he really wants to chew things suddenly. @rp1993 Eddie also nearly ate tape once!

When my pigs first went into their C&C, Smokey had to taste test the correx and I have a small line of nibbles across the edge now but he hasn’t tried since they first moved in so it could just be because it is something new and Eddie also wants to taste test!

You can put slide binders on the correx to prevent chewing. Quite cheap from Amazon.

Those are very lucky piggies ! What a wonderful set up - no wonder they are zooming and popcorning !

Their new cage looks fantastic! Also, I am glad to hear the boys are enjoying their much bigger home.

Ollie and Tallulah are correx nibblers, but they only tend to do it when I'm watching so I top up the hay or fetch them a veggie treat! Those two always have a haycube/carrot cottage/amazon box house in their cage to make sure they have something safe to nibble on... but they still eat the correx when they want my attention! They go for the cut edge dividing the hay area from the main cage mostly that can't be covered... bloody pigwigs lol :)
