so... i went away to wales for 2 days...
i left my friend incharge of the piggies (i took thorn with me because hes so demanding at the moment)
i told her.... dont let cleo and oliver out at all (because cleos so nervouse... i thought theyd be better off not being handled by a stranger)
and to let the girls out for a bit... then put them back in and then let the boys out for a bit...
DO NOT... put the boys and girls together on the floor...
well... you can all see where this is going...
so she comes round tonight and says.... awwww you should have seen them four... they played so nicely together...

i ripped her head from the shoulders it sat on.....

i am actually shaking I'm that angry...!
aaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaargh....!

whats wrong with some people...?!?!?!?!?!?

what if something happens to my girls...?!?!

i mean for gods sake the boys could have killed each other...?!?!?!?

are some people born with out a brain....!
:a19: :a19:

i mean.... i cant go through everything thats happened with thorn.... again with more babies... cleo and thorn totally drained me... but nuzzle and scratch... there my baby girls... :(

i cant beleive it...

oh dear... I guess you won't ask her to piggie-sit in a hurry!

take 10 deep breaths sweetie i can understand why your angry but getting yourself upset will just upset your piggies too, did she watch them when they where out together coud she tell you if she saw any mating ect?

and look at the silver lining the boars could have fought and they didnt so there is one nice thing to think of you didnt come back too scratched and bitten piggies

(i know its not a big help but hope it makes you feel a little better)

thanks... i know theres no point in completely freaking out over this but just the thought that my group could double in few weeks is terrifying....
let alone having to hand rear babies.... health complications with my girls...
god the list goes on...

ive had a good look over my boys to make sure they are okay... and theres no obvious trauma's....

she says she doesnt know as they were under my sofa for a while.... :-/

grrrr

so looks like I'm going to have some piggie babies... the major issues here are space really so would have to re home some... thats assuming they dont end up like cleo... all but one of her litter passing away....
but lets not over think the situation...
fingers crossed there not preggers....

i relly hope they wernt...
i just feel like the most incompetent piggie mommy leaving my babies with a complete retard....
8...

Some people do not understand and they just don't listen, either.

You did your best, you trusted someone to care for you pets, you told them how to care for them...And clearly they didn't listen.

I can understand you being upset with yourself because it's a "If only I had known-" situation but you didn't know and you couldn't have known.
For you to leave your piggies with someone...You must clearly trust that person and they let you down.

I really do hope no one is pregnant, though!

Don't beat yourself up over this hon. It wasn't your fault, you couldn't have known that would've happened. You gave her good, clear instructions and she didn't listen. It is not your fault.

Fingers crossed for them and a *big hug* to you

oh no, really hope they weren't in season 8... is there any kind of emergency contraceptive option for piggies at all?

thanks every one... I'm just totally heart broken about all this...
they are, along with my son... my babies... and i just feel like ive let them down and done a crap job at looking after them...

and also ive noticed... (only been home a couple hours) that the boys seem to have fallen out...?!?!?
is this testosterone that will wear off and they'll get on again... or do you think this has caused major realtionship problems between them...
some people dont see the reprocussions of there actions...
grrrr8...

oh god i would of flipped big time! maybe speak to your vet and ask if there is anyhting you can do!?

trust me i did...

the only thing i can think of doing is having a piggie hysterectamie...? (sory about spelling)
twice over... but then theres the risk of the op... oh god... i dont know what to do... I'm totally spazzing out at the mo...
i go from being really upset about all this to being angry to the extreme...

god.... its just such a shock... after everything cleo and thorn have been through the thought of putting my girls through all that is heart breaking... i just hope to god they wernt in season... and i feel like such a crap person because i've only had these boys a week....
i planed to get them castrated asap not becasue I'm planning to split them up but just incase of accidents...(ironic huh...?!?!?)
obviously I'm still going to get them done...

I'm just so worried....:0

Hiya

Words fail me at the sheer stupidity of people sometimes and yet we hear of family members, friends and OHs mixing pigs with no thought to the consequences to the animals or heartache involved with pregnancies. Do they think past the 'they look cute together' stage or think that babies seem like a good idea and give it a go?

I'm so sorry this happened you and your piggies. After all that you have been through with little Thorn and his sister I know it is the last thing you would have wanted to happen.

There is a chance that the boys will fall out after having mixed with females, it can happen just by being around girls, so may have happened anyway if they live in the same area or go into runs the girls have been in. If you want to keep the boys together for the time being, pre and post op, I would have them a far way from the girls as poss.

As for your girls I'm afraid it's 'wait and see' time. An increased thirst is one of the early signs at 2-3 weeks. Hopefully they will not have caught, I have mixed groups come in to the rescue and the females are not always pregnant so fingers crossed for your girls. Extra high vit C veg is about all that's needed at this stage if they are pregnant, once you start feeling movement, up the calcium level with alfalfa hay added to the feed hay.

aww poor little things. not to be redundant, but it really isn't your fault, and you cant keep beating yourself up. just think how lucky it was that you decided to bring Thorn with you! how old are the girls who are in question? i would be afraid of a piggie hysterectomy, i feel like that would probably be more risky than her giving birth (i could be wrong). good luck, and my tribe and i are all crossing our fingers and toes! xx

I hate leaving my pets with other people just because I am afraid of them getting out and running off (I have one piggie and 2 large dogs) I would never leave them anywhere with just a random person, sometimes I find myself worrying even if I have left them home with my husband. I am so sorry that has happened, but I am with everyone else and am hoping that they weren't in season and if they were you don't have any problems with the litters. I am probably just as furious about this as you are. How old was the person watching your piggies for you?

GOD! Sometimes other people try to do things differently with my pigs when I go away somewhere and its just DON'T DO ANYTHING ELSE EXCEPT WHAT I TOLD YOU TOO DO! but some people want to do things different and it is RAWR!

Hope you're girls are alright

I don't get why people, despite having clear instruction not to do something, do it anyway pow-pow what part of don't let them be together could someone not understand @)
I can understand why you are just so angry, especially with your friend who was bound to know about what you have already been through with Thorn!
If they are pregnant is there a way you can get your friend involved with the pregnancy, birth and care after they are born? If I was your friend I'd be absolutely mortified and want to do anything I could to help since it was my fault. It would give her a good idea just how hard it is and they terrible situation she has put your piggies in just by one simple decision to completely ignore your instructions xox

the girls are around the 5 month mark... they weigh...
nuzzle- 687 grams
scratch- 613 grams...

so I'm hoping there developed enought... but nuzzle is getting over an awful case of mites when i got her she was practically bald...
so fingers crossed there healthy and more to the point not preggers...

this is whats annoying becuase i would bring them to the kennels my moms dogs go to as they care for small animals aswell...
but this wasnt a holiday its was a last minuet panick and pick up some clean pants and jump in the car so i got my friend to watch over them... i have always trusted her and the reason i asked her to watch over was because she had some spare keys already...

i just feel like a complete idiot...

ive calmed down alot now... I'm not too angry now I'm just totally gutted about all this...!
