I found certain foods aggrevated the IC, carrot and baby corn in particular (which he loves).
How long before you noticed a change on cystease?Hi, sorry to hear your piggy is having ic problems, my Gremlin has it but thankfully hasn't been as serious as some of the cases I've read on here. For the last six months it's been pretty quiet and he's been good. I sprinkle half a cystease capsule on a thin slice of cucumber every morning which has been successful so far. It took a while to diagnose the problem initially and after some vets visits and even a change of vets, an x-ray and lots of research finally found a solution. Started with some loxicom and a full capsule every day and now down to half with no pain relief. Hope you get it sorted out and have a pain free piggy soon.
It was about 10 days, if I remember correctlyHow long before you noticed a change on cystease?
When encouraging them to eat I take out hideys but put them back later. I’ve found piggies will hide away and make no attempt to eat unless you remove them for short periods. Lone piggies do tend to just sit around and do nothing. I’m sure you’ll see a big change once Burnie is in with her.I give 2 rings twice a day. Il keep an eye on thatdot at the moment is as bad as she was just before our wedding in july. And she pulled through that just about when she came to you . Funny that lol.
I'm not sure wever to take her carrot cottage out or not? She can still hide under her hay, its just with it in, she just stays in. But i have to keep the stress low so......?
If we make it to then is whats concerning me most. But i will try taking the hidey out for a short time. How long do you think is wise? She will sit in her hay if i take it out so that might be a great start. When encouraging them to eat I take out hideys but put them back later. Weight is actually on an up. Normal is 980 shes weighing little bit over 1kg.Make sure you take her to vets tomorrow, what time is your appointment? I am there tomorrow afternoon too. Try not to get too worried, as animals pick up on our emotions and cystitis is often stress related, as has already been mentioned. I know it's hard not to worry and right now I am becoming very anxious about one of the TEAS piggies, but it's important for us to try and stay calm. Is Dot still eating? Is her weight stable?
He didnt really advise much, she was on a high when she went in, he examined her and felt her bladder area, and he was impressed. Also he got her to pee by pressing gently, she peed clear all up his wall lol.Can I check with you what your vet advised abut IC? … particularly about how long it would take to clear.
…. was wondering what advice you have had as I was under the impression IC can take a long time to clear up and it is more about symptom managementCan I check with you what your vet advised abut IC? … particularly about how long it would take to clear.

I decided to take two lots of advice and take her house out just in sessions. I have done it and shes now eating hayI would leave the carrot cottage in. It sounds like she feels safe in there and it's best to leave her quiet
So do you do 10ml of water I'm 1 sitting? And just to answer about is dot happy... yes and no. She needs burnie asap i think, and hes becoming the same. He is in fullhealth thoughMy IC SOW has two cystease a day now ( one a day didn’t manage it properly) and metacam. I adjust almost daily depending on how she is. I syringe 10ml twice a day of filtered water into her and that seems to keep her flushed through. I find her coat is amazing as she’s so hydrated and I guess the cystease maybe helps? She’s my fourth Guinea in 18 years on this regime and it seems to work..so far.
You’re sensible to have her checked by the vet if nothing else to stop you worrying. Cystease can be linked to stress as it is in humans, so try and keep things calm for her. All the piggies who have had this with me, have been piggies which really are of an anxious disposition. Every single pig was difficult to bond and one was a real bully..although I adored her! Just something to consider? Is she happy?
Edited to add, just saw that she is a stressed type of piggy..sorry didn’t read that before!

She must be eating well if her weight is gaining. If she's gaining weight and not eating, then you need to get that checked, just in case it's fluid retention.Weight is actually on an up. Normal is 980 shes weighing little bit over 1kg.
I cant guaruntee il make it to the vets. I tried fri and sat but no slots.
She hasnt gave up eating. Its like she knows that she has to and is eating the minimal to stay strong.
Sorry to hear about your pig, hope he gets well shortly. I'm going to grab some grass for her in a sec

Thank god, I'm home in time to get dot to the vetsI might see if i can try her on a different antibiotic? Incase its not i.c
Il see if i can get a sample sent. She was on zythromax which worked but then problems came backWhat antibiotic is she on and for how long? Both Emma and Ellen had urine cultures done and as the lab couldn't grow anything (meaning there was no bacteria) that's how they new that antibiotics wouldn't work
