I have two guinea pigs and I'm starting to realize that my one named Skittle has a fear of certain fruits, specifically cantaloupe and blueberries. Not only will he refuse to eat them, but run away and/or chitter at me when I try to offer them by hand. My other boar(Parrot) doesn't do this so I feel a little bad about how cautious Skittle is when I am giving these things to Parrot.

I don't think it has anything to do with health, since he will eat lettuce, watermelon, and other fruits and veggies I offer. I just thought I would see if anyone had any explanations for this behavior. 😊

Some piggies just don’t like certain foods. Mine absolutely hate strawberries and courgette (zucchini) and physically back away from them.

Just remember the fruit shouldn’t feature highly in the diet (one small piece no more than once per week) anyway, so I wouldn’t be concerned at all.

Thank you! 🙂

This is quite normal. My Georgie runs away if I offer him blueberry or strawberry. You would think I had tried to poison him. 😂

mine hate romaine lettuce and will run away from it without even sniffing it.

That’s normal. My piggies are usually not fussy at all but if I try to give them asparagus they give me one of their ‘looks’ (which means “you horrible slave, do you expect me to actually EAT that?!”) and run away.

Bill and Ted absolutely hated coriander and peppers, they would run from one end of the cage to the other with a horrified look on both their face 😳
Posh and Ginger will eat almost anything
