Is my cage big enough?

I customized two midwest plus cages into a 4x8 foot enclosure instead of a 4x4 like it would normally be. It was pretty easy so if it's easier to get another midwest cage that's what I would do. It would give them a lot more space.

One of the problems with trio's is that you inevitably end up with an outsider situation. One who is off on their own regularly. It doesn't mean that they don't get on with the others neither does it mean that they are independent and happier off by themselves.

Here is a list of US rescues, if you are lucky you might find one not too far away Guinea Lynx :: US Guinea Pig Rescue and Shelter Organizations the easiest solution would be to find a boar companion and have two pairs.

The other tricky thing in the US is finding a vet who is knowledgeable and experienced with guinea pigs. Neutering risks can be massively minimised by the right knowledge and experience. Sadly this is a thing a lot of vets don't have and it does seem harder to find a good vet in the US than it does in the UK (and in the UK it can be tricky enough). It might be worth looking at the vet list as well as knowing where to find a good vet before an emergency occurs is always useful Guinea Lynx :: GL's Vet List please be aware that the posts on guinea lynx can be fairly old, I am not sure how often they are updated so you should always check with any vets practice when you contact them.

Thank you I will take a look at these. And yes my biggest fear is getting an inexperienced vet. They’ll tell u everything u want to hear but when it actually comes down to the surgeries and such, they have no idea what they’re doing. :(

You can ask simple questions about guinea pigs such as "when was the last time you treated a guinea pig?", "how often do you carry out neutering operations on guinea pigs?" etc these will help you to realise who is genuine. Not all exotics vets are experience and not all awesome piggy vets are exotic specialists. My own vets fall into the awesome category, they care and are very knowledgeable and on the massive plus side when something gets too much for them they are very quick to suggest the piggy needs to go to a specialist and will refer me on.

Yes, he’s only 0-3 months. :( my two younger get along I believe? They haven’t slept together but they do eat together and chase eachother around.
I had my two boys neutered at 9-10 weeks old and they sailed through the surgery. My vet has 30+ years experience owning guinea pigs and 15+ years as a guinea pig vet, so I am pretty confident with him.

Wow that sounds wonderful. I’ll definitly have to bring my aunt along with me since she’s very educated on vets. She always hits them with questions when it comes to getting her animals checked out. Sometimes I think she intimidates them lol. I’ll definitely have those questions in mind when I go!
