View attachment 82605 Checking out my Harv, I’ve mentioned a black scabby thing on his bum that some of you declared as his grease gland; should it look like this? I’ve washed him but it didn’t seem to go away?
Hi! It looks like a burst cyst to me; please see a vet this week during regular opening hours.
A gland is always centred in the middle of the back directly above the genitalia, which yours doesn't seem to be.

I’m not sure if this helps, idk why I got so colourful with it haha, but the black bit is right above his bum and looks centred to me. I searched up burst cysts and I couldn’t find anything that looked quite like what Harv has. I believe it’s just a great gland but should it be black like this?View attachment 82616 I’m not sure if this helps, idk why I got so colourful with it haha, but the black bit is right above his bum and looks centred to me. Oh gosh, okay thank you! I’ll call up a vetThe grease gland sits roughly where your two circles interlock. And yes, a burst cyst can look like this if it is more than a day since it has burst. In any case, it would be good if you had it checked.![]()
