bless him, he is so gorgeous my maisie had what we called frog legs when she was poorly aswell. not exactly the same issues (chronic cystitis and ovarian cysts) but similar. her legs looked a bit far apart and she had a waddle because of her arthritic ankle. we also were taught how to do physio for her and is did seem to help make her legs and ankle more supple.

i can't remember if i mentioned but i got some timothy hay 'pellets' from galens garden recently and can send a sample if you'd like. mollie and benjie are going mad for them at the moment. they're very crumbly this time so he should beable to have little nibbles and they can also be softened with cooled boiled water aswell. it's just another way to get fibre into them i've found. benjie especially thinks they are a treat i think they're very much the same size and shape as the vitakraft pellets which he has so i think he just thinks i'm giving him lots of extra pellets! i can send a sample for you if you'd ever like to try them with joe x

I am sure it would help him, as at a loss what to do for the best. Joe has started eating the Burgess dandelion and marigold herbage I bought him, so he has made a start. It sounds that the timothy hay pellets are also a good bet from galens garden - thanks for the tip. I can give them a try as well, anything is worth a try. I will go on the website and have a look.

it's hard to explain but basically we had to lay her on her side and make sure she was fully relaxed (if she wouldn't then the vet said don't do it and just try again later on) - then it was just a case of gently moving the leg/ankle very very gently back and forth, only extending by the slightest bit either way. with her legs, she could sit normally but facing away from me and i gently lifted each leg and lay her foot flat against my palm then very slowly and gently moved my hand forward and back to gently stretch the leg.

it's quite hard to explain! but the vet demonstrated for me first and showed me the best way and made sure i was doing it correctly, and then we continued at home. if they're not relaxed enough then it's easy to over-stretch the joint so the times she didn't relax enough, i would simply warm my hands and just place them on her legs and ankle. she seemed to really enjoy the warmth.

not sure that helps really but it wasn't anything too complicated really. just extra warmth and gentle movement.

glad joe is eating the burgess dandelion and marigold now aswell.

Joe is not particularly well tonight. Iam really exhausted from giving all the drugs, syringe feeding and care to help Joe have the best chance. I want to sleep, but I cannot leave him, so it will be another night of restless naps, between making sure he is alright. I feel like I am losing the battle and have been back to the vets post op several times, last time on Saturday, but Joe does not seem to be getting any better. He is on Septrin, Metacam, Cisapride and Cystophan as well as syringe feeding, so it is hard going for both him and me. Totally exhausted. Can everyone send healing vibes which are much needed for both Joe and me.

Joe lost his battle tonight. We sat with him whilst he passed away. I tried desperately to ring the emergency vets and tried for nearly an hour but there was no reply and I feel sad that I could not help him to pass away, when his time had come. It is 3.30am and I have been up for most of the night with him. My lovely boy Joe has gone. I am devastated.
