I have decided to launch my own guinea pig rescue and just wanted to let you all know.
I have gained so much invaluable experience by working as a foster carer with Sokel Guinea Pig Rescue (for which I thank you Graham) and the decision to open my own rescue is twofold.
Firstly, I have seen just how many guinea pigs do come into Sokel Guinea Pig Rescue and realise that another rescue will not "tread on any toes" of the other rescues around this area. Of course that is not the issue - it is the guinea pigs and the ever increasing number coming in that is our (and should be everyone in rescue's) main concern.
Secondly, it has always been an ambition of mine to work closely with animals and guinea pigs just so happen to be my favourite pet and I have learned so much from Sokel that I feel it is a good time to launch my own Rescue.
I have asked Helen to come on board and she has kindly agreed to help. Helen will also remain working with Sokel Guinea Pig Rescue, and I do hope that the two Rescues - and indeed any and all Rescues in this area will be able to work closely together and help each other out in times of need - as of course we all want to help each other.
Helen will be of invaluable help to me, not least for her considerable knowledge and experience, but also because she does collect and deliver so many guinea pigs up and down the M6 and the M74 and both her and my partner Mark will help with this.
I do have a Website which is in its new stages if you'd like too look
