Little unwell, likely dental. Been given fluids.

When the drugs wear of he'll seem more himself. Ivy was 'back' by the evening and completely herself by the next day. We didn't do it twice! Is he still OK in with Digby?

Good, here’s hoping it wears off in the next few hours. He and Digby are okay, Digby hasn’t touched him really as Little is staying wherever we place him. Right now Little is on one side of the vet bed and Digby is in a hidey. Digby hasn’t bothered him at all, not that I think Little would react anyway

Buprecare (Buprenorphine) is known for its sedative effect. Unfortunately, whilst it is an effective analgesic, it can have a negative effect on gastrointestinal motility. Therefore, it is essential that Little continues to eat, providing he is able. Buprenorphine is not long lasting, and Little should be back to normal come morning.

i hope Little is more awake soon.i agree with what others have suggested continue with syringe feeding.Maybe you could ring the cat and rabbit clinic to see if you can get an appointment, does Kim work on Saturdays. What a worry for you.Little is an absolutely adorable piggie.sending you my support.x

He came round a bit at 1:30am, he seems more himself now though (3:30am). He’s eating some grass right now, he’s tried to eat his hay but unable to, bless him.

We called them just after we called the emergency vets earlier. They said Simon and Kim aren’t working this weekend so to ring Monday morning. I’m officially booked in for Thursday at 4pm, but fingers crossed we get something on Monday.
It’s such a shame for him, if it is another jaw abscess I just hope he’ll be okay with the anaesthetic, and that Simon will even be happy to do the procedure given Little’s age. This really seems to have come out of nowhere :(

He’s okay, he went to eat some food at about 7:30 but wasn’t really able to. He’s having some syringe food right now which he’s enjoying, we’re currently on 25ml of food and he’s still going. His eyes have gone back to normal but the side we think he has an jaw abscess on is looking watery, could be due to the pressure? We’re going to give him some metacam too. I haven’t noticed him drinking at all in the night which either could be because of the meds or the pain. With his last 2 jaw abscesses he couldn’t drink, so he may also need that syringing to him frequently throughout the day.
I haven’t seen him move much as he’s just been laid next to his hay, but I think he seems a bit more like himself compared to yesterday after the vets.
This is him (and his watery eye) having his syringe food right now:

Aw, poor Little, you must be worried sick. Glad he is looking brighter now. Hope you can get an appointment on Monday to see Simon. Hang in there, keep him going until then. Hugs to you I know how hard it Is x

Definitely, with his bottom incisors being gone from the dental root/jaw abscesses, I really didn’t think we’d ever be in this situation again. I’m never letting any of my piggies have an opioid pain killer again either, that just added to the worry.
Right now, he’s trying to eat some readigrass so at least we know he was only worse because of the medication last night. I’m just glad he’s feeling up to eating today, it makes me feel more confident that he’ll make it until we get to Simon xx

Massive hugs to you and beautiful Little @Little Ones, I’m so glad he’s looking and acting a bit better today. Really hope you can get in on Monday at C&R, will be thinking of you all and stacks of healing vibes being sent from us lot xx

He’s not been as interested in the syringe food as this morning when he had 35ml. Hes only had 5ml this afternoon, he’s had some grass though and a bit of readigrass. He’s also been pooing which is good.
One thing is that he smells awful, I think it’s his pee. It must be from the fluids he was given yesterday, he also feels damp so must be sitting in his pee. I’m guessing bathing him would be the wrong thing to do right now? He really does smell terrible. My mum can’t smell him, but I can just by being sat by the cage (I do have a strong sense of smell though). Bless him

Poor baby really seems to be going through it, I’ve no experience with any of this to be of any help but I’m really hoping something goes right for you both soon. xx

Awww..poor Little. Fingers crossed you can get appointment on Monday. 🤞

Hubby and I used to just travel from North Wales so early in the morning then call C&R while on the way there as an emergency. We always managed to get an appointment. Not sure during this time though. When we called Thursday last week for their earliest appointment we can have for Rocky (he has dental problem), they got us 3:30pm on Tuesday (which we went to this week). The agony of waiting sucks.

Really hope he picks up with his eating
The smell could be the meds I guess, but it can also be a sign of infection, I’ve had the same with RB Jess and Sheepy who did smell very different to the ‘normal’ piggy pee smell.
Poor little chap. I kept changing pee pads/fleece they were laying on a lot throughout the day so they weren’t sitting/laying in/on it xx

I am very sorry for your worries and the rough ride. All the best for bagging an emergency slot at the Cat&Rabbit!

We had thought about setting off early and then just calling at 8 when they open but they told us on the phone they’re very busy on Mondays so we may not even manage to get one and will have been travelling for nothing. Hopefully we do get one though!

Buprecare is a very strong pain killer and although it can make them a bit flat, it can really help. The jerking movement Little is making is exactly what Tilly was doing a few months ago. I got as far as picking up my phone to ring the vets, with the view to having her put to sleep, as she was really struggling to eat, but hesitated as Simon and Kim were on holiday. I gave her some tramadol, as well as Metacam and decided to see how she got on. The jerking eventually stopped and never returned. Simon saw her on his return and she had her normal, two weekly dental and she's still going strong! I'm so glad I didn't make that call! The fluids would only have made him feel better, so don't worry about that and I would just try and limp your way through until Monday morning and get on the phone on the dot of 8 am!

When Little was doing it, my mum and I were sobbing thinking the exact same thing as you did with Tilly. This definitely reassured me about everything that happened yesterday. I know it has to be Little’s mouth though, we’ve had all the notes from yesterday’s appointment sent over to Simon. Little seems okay today, so whilst we’re still worried, its nothing like it was yesterday. He actually wants to eat things and has been moving about. I hope Simon is able to sort him out, I’m a bit worried about if Little needs anaesthetic given his age though.

Simon is so quick, when doing ops, he would be under anaesthetic for such a short time. That's if he needs an op! Hopefully he won't and Simon will be able to sort the problem easily. It definitely sounds like he's doing a lot better today xx

Update: Maybe he has a bladder stone or something that wasn’t picked up on the X-ray? I noticed yesterday when I was checking to see if he’d pooed, two dripped of wee came out when pressure was applied.
Just now, he peed only when pressure was applied (again, checking his bum) and I noticed he looks weird, like where his penis is under the skin. He also has a cauliflower penis so I’ve been trying for the past 5 minutes to pop his penis out to check if something is caught around it but it just wont come out because of his excess skin.
He’s also peeing only in droplets when I’ve been doing this, but now I’m worried perhaps he can’t pee?
I’m not sure if it looks abnormal or not on the photographs, I’ve just checked it again and it looks less swollen now (only a few mins after it looked swollen) but now I am just worried it could be a stone and he isn’t able to pee properly.

Am I just overreacting? What should I do?

Maybe I’m just overthinking it 😔 if it wasn’t his mouth then why would he be happy to eat his syringe food and his veg but then not touch his hay.
I suppose there isn’t much I can do until Simon sees him, I’ll try again later to pop his penis out to see if there’s anything caught. The vet did see something in the bladder on his scan but said cystitis, however Simon has told me to find a stone the piggy needs to be sedated as the angle has to be so precise to spot it. There’s no way he has both a potential jaw abscess and a potential bladder stone... right? It’s all seeming a bit of a mystery.

I’m sorry Little is giving you so much worry. Hopefully he can hold on and you can get him seen as an emergency on Monday.

With regards being wet, perhaps you could give him a wipe? Maybe he’s sitting in his wee. Poor boy. Hugs and everything crossed for you.
