Two of my piggies are going to the vet tomorrow and although I'm wondering whether I'm just being paranoid I'm not taking any risks.

On Tuesday I happened to see and hear Bitsy squeaking whilst peeing. I had the experience of this same situation a month ago with her sister Itsy and when she saw the vet (Simon) he actually pushed a small(ish) calcium stone/plug so I made an appointment for Bitsy. I palpated down there like Simon had showed me (gosh, that sounds rude!) and can feel (I think) something hard. However...no more squeaky wees heard:{ Here's my diva:

The next day, Lola started crackling when breathing. A few months ago she had this and after isolating her and taking her to vet the next day she decided to stop crackling at the exact moment Simon started examining her. I was embarrassed and had to swear to Simon she was doing it. He passed a clean bill of health. So this time I waited but when she was still crackling this morning I decided to call to arrange for Lola to go tomorrow as well. But guess what?! She is not crackling anymore tonight mallethead Here is my princess x) :

They are both still going tomorrow but I just don't understand. Am I too paranoid? Does anyone else have piggies like this?

If you feel you need to take them, then do so. It's better to think you might be paranoid than find out later that you should have gone.

best to trust your piggie intuition. Hope all goes well for your beautiful girls, let us know how they get on x

I work in a vets and you wouldn't believe the amount of animals that stop showing symptoms when they come in! My theory is that the adrenaline over rides the pain that's causing them to limp etc. so they won't think you're crazy and want to make things up and waste your money on consultation fees! :)

Thank you all for your well wishes and sorry for not having updated this thread earlier. Things took off at work unexpectedly busy and I've been rushed off my feet :)

I'm happy to say both Bitsy and Lola are well. Lola was having the crackled breathing which had stopped and after a lot of examining, listing, palpating Simon couldn't find anything wrong. I just have to keep an eye and look out for a added symptom when (and if) it happens again.

Bitsy is also a picture of perfect health. Her wee is crystal clear and Simon couldn't feel anything. It's slightly embarrasing (you can have a laugh) but the hard thing I was feeling is her pelvic bone…duh! Talk about piggy paranoia, lololol.

It is great they are well. Please do not worry. It shows how caring you are to have taken them to be checked.

More than one member on here, including myself, has taken their piggy to the vet in a panic only to discover things like this! Glad that both girls have been given a clean bill of health.

Oh dont feel bad - I have rung an emergency vet on a Saturday night to a horse with colic (which can kill them) only for the vet to arrive the instant the horse stopped colicking.....! That night visit cost me £150!

I also took Katie my lionhead to the vet this month because she didnt seem right but she was fine. The vet didnt act like he thought I was stupid or anything.

Glad your girls are OK.
