Hi everyone! My 2 year old guinea pig seems to be loosing the pigment of his iris. It now looks jagged around the edge. The eyes are otherwise healthy. It seems to be happening to both eyes. It is worsening very slowly over time. It doesn’t seem to affect him in any way and he is a very healthy big guineapig who eats a vairied diet. Anyone have any thoughts. He gets super traumatised at the vet otherwise I wouldn’t be hesitant to take him. Thanks in advance 😊

Yes I agree, any changes to the eyes should be checked out by a vet as soon as possible, ideally within 24 hours. Hope its nothing serious! X

Thanks everyone. I took him to the vets. They think it might be cholesterol deposits ( not diet related) which may resolve with steroid drops or may worsen over time and he might lose his sight. Fingers crossed the drops work.
