Dillon is my 4 month old boar that I have had for around 3 weeks.

I noticed when I got home today not all of their veggies were eaten which is unusual for them but neither seemed to be acting any differently.

They have sqeeked for their tea time veggies and wandered through to the kitchen for their tea. I noticed that Dillon just wandered round the plate unable to pick anything and when he nibbled my finger it felt kind of gummy so had a wee look and one of his tip front teeth has snapped off.

They get vitamin C added to their veg mind you I am not certain how much they should have?

I know a broken tooth can be lack of vit C or by a bump to the mouth but I can't see it being either of these and it must have only happened today because he had no bother munching last nite.

I have had an older rescue boar with scurvy which this happened to alot but not a baby.

Any ideas? All his food is now cut into little battons for him and he is much enjoying being hand fed!

He could have been chewing on bars or something hard etc... Breaking a tooth is not that rare and it will grow back very quickly.

I agree that with a good diet and at his young age, scurvy should not be an issue. It's probably just on of these things!

Make sure that you cut his veg in tiny chunks so he can gobble them up until his tooth has grown back.

Trust me, it cant be as bad as my mistake... i acsedently dropped my pig on the floor, checked him and everything, but a few days later, i noticed 1 of his teeth had fell out, up to the vets we went, vet took 1 look and said ALL his teeth were snapped off and just hanging, so he removed them... he said they would take about 2 weeks go grow back, mean-time syringe feed him, did so, just getting him back on solids and his teath grwing back, when he passed away8..., obv he wasnt getting the right minarals... dont worry, if its just 1 tooth, it will grow back as long as the roots still there in a couple of weeks, if he is struggling to eat, syringe feed hem (blend food up) till hes ok on his own... just monter him in other words x

good luck x

George snapped his front two teeth off a couple of days before he came to us from the rescue. They grew back fully in about 2 weeks. He found it tiring and frustrating to eat veggies but we discovered he could suck on some cucumber without the skin on and cut up very small and that lettuce in long strips were ok if I held one end.
Little and often got him eating again.

Fingers crossed he makes a full recovery and is back stuffing his face again soon!
