Lump found in female gp

I'm really thinking about stopping this zythromax .i hate the stuff . Id rather have her back eating and hope shes ok until the 30th

I did call. They said take it from 0.5 to 0.25 and only once a day instead of twice. So i done 0.5 yesterday morning, skipped yesterday evening and this morning gave 0.25

Yea i may have to . Il trial this today and call tomorrow if no changes. I got her to eat spinach and raddichio this morning
 
Things are looking a bit bad now. Dot seems to have bloat . After feeding her a bit of spinach. The vet said give any leafy green food if she will eat it ìt. Her abdomen is swollen both sidea and ahe has gained 100g. Probably because I'm feeding her up with cc and only a few poos are coming out the other end
 
If she is showing any symptoms of bloat, please have her to the vets ASAP as severe bloat can kill.

I had a piggy a few years ago who suffered a mild case of bloat (although we didn’t know it was mild at the time) and as we were at my parents at the time and it was a Sunday, we couldn’t use our regular vet so I had to phone the vets inside pets at home and they saw her within the hour. Thankfully after some gut meds, she recovered fast

Ive given her infacol . Buscopan and gripe water this morning. Massage pillow too and a hand massage. The abdomen is soft again now. And a pile if mis shapen poos were under her when i just got in from work. But i did notice orange colour urine on her and it smelled strong than usual.but that could be any of the crap that i just gave her this morning

I live right near a pets at home aswell .surely they have a guinea pig specialist vet
 
Well done! it sounds like she is over the worse but do keep an eye on her.
The urine could be normal oxidised urine (it can turn a rusty brown / orange colour on standing) or like you say, from the stuff that you gave her this morning. Septrin once turned one of my piggies urine a funny colour.
I think that some pets at home may have guinea pig or small animal specialists but not all of them. But I always go with the moto that any vet is better than no vet in certain circumstances. The vet who I saw in pets at home wasn't a guinea pig specialist but he knew how to treat bloat. I would certainly use them again if for what ever reason I couldn't get to my own vet especially as an emergency on a Sunday or Bank holiday Monday when my vets are closed. I'm lucky that I have 3 pets at home vets within a short drive from me if ever needed but of course, I would always opt to see my own vet who I trust completely
 
I may book in later. Dot just wont eat by herself.I'm trying everything.before she was on zythromax she was eating for herself.I'm giving poop soup pro c . Still nothing.I'm thinkin emeprid mite do the trick. I'm sure the spinach cauaed the bloat
 
Aww bless her :( It sounds like the zythromax has really not agreed with her. May be it's that thats caused the bloat especially if she isn't eating properly. I've fed a little spinach before with no ill effects.

Yes, its probably wise to have her checked if you're concerned

Cant believe it shes eating veg on her own and wondering about . Bloat has gone down to normal.this feels quite rewarding even though its not about me. I'm liking the fiberplex its all ready to use gave 1ml already. Thanks wiebke for telling me about this stuff

Just found blood on her.thick blood .not alot but u can smell it. It was almost reddy orange. She must have a stone or uti.to be fair I'm not worried. I wanted what was wrong to show through
 
Oh no poor girl is really going through it :( may be have that X-ray done sooner rather than later to see if the lump is a bladder stone.

Il call vet in morn. Closed now. Why couldnt she do this earlier lol. I mite need to atart the anti biotics again . Now i got fiberplex mite be ok
 
Yep it’s typical that it should happen when vets are closed. Good that you have the fibreplex. May be your vet will give you another antibiotic if it isn’t suiting her? I’ve always had great success with Seprin

Me too. Its a type of penicillin though isnt it
 
Ok it was a different one i used for pneumonia on pip my old pig. It was safe with needle but not orally. Baytril and septrin have always been ok with all my g pigs
 
Just caught up on your thread. Hope you get some answers today at the vets.
