Hi everyone,
My pig has had a lump under his chin for about 5 months now. He has seen 4 different exotic vets, has had it lanced and drained, and has been on antibiotics before. The bills are getting ridiculous, and I am a college student so I can't really afford to go to the vet much more. I am trying my best to keep the lump open and I am trying to drain it myself, which is working. I get a cheesy yellowish toothpaste like consistency puss that comes out of the lump. The lump gets really swollen every few weeks and then once I drain it, it goes down dramatically in size. Also, for a while now, my pig has been itching 1 certain spot on his back, creating a decent sized bald spot, and I noticed that today there is actually a lump there and the same puss from the lump under his chin is coming out of it. I am just so tired of worrying about these painful lumps on him. I know it really hurts him when I try to clean it out. Does any one have advice on what this could be?

It sounds like either an abscess or a sebaceous cyst.

Thank you. The puss does not smell at all. And my pig's appetite is still great and gets plenty to drink as well. He just keeps biting the same spot on his back because the lump is there

I agree.
My Jemimah had a persistent abscess and I finally decided to get it surgically removed.
It all worked well.
Hope you can sort out your boy too.

You can't miss the smell of an abscess, so this sounds like it is a cyst. As it keeps refilling, it would be best to get it removed surgically and that will solve the problem once and for all.
The vet gave me an estimate as to how much the surgery would cost and it was $1,300 USD. That prices is just ridiculous to me, I cannot afford a surgery like that. If I just keep cleaning it out and draining it myself, will my pig be ok? Can he live with these lumps?

Wow, that's a lot of money. You can keep squeezing it out, but they often just come back, larger each time. I would phone around and see if you can find a vet who is guinea pig savvy but cheaper. How old is your guinea pig?
I am not exactly sure of his age, but I got him back in May. All the vets I have been to say he is relatively young (less than a year). So I know for sure he is not old at all.
