Well today I’ve decided to try and bond Mango and Frankie as I’ve got a few days off together to keep an eye on them. We’ve had all the usual behaviour, sniffing, chasing, rumbling, a few lunges, chattering. A few times they’ve napped and lay down next to each other but woken up and the scenario starts over again albeit not as long as the time before the nap. Surprisingly we’ve only had one tiny little mounting episode, Mango mounted Frankie. Mango is not backing down and during their shouting matches he’s the one facing straight on whereas Frankie is in a more sideways position. I’m hoping for a positive outcome. Fingers crossed. As there making the happy noises when they’re not sparring. Brrp brrrp brrp. Lol.

Fingers firmly crossed! At least they are determined to sort it out peacefully. Not every boar bonding is a humping orgy, especially with adult boars who are not longer as hormone driven.

Unfortunately it’s gone a bit pear shaped. ☹️ Frankie lunged at Mango and managed to get him on the neck. There was a fair bit of blood. Which has now stopped. I’ve cleaned mango up and put him back in his bed. He’s gone for a nap now. Will be keeping a close eye and possibly off to the vets with Mango. But not really sure what they can do. As bleeding stopped now and I’m going to clean it with antiseptic later once it clots. I’m thinking it was a misjudged lunge as when I took Mango out both of them were squeaking like wheeking noise. He’s eating and drinking normally. Living back through the bars from Frankie again. ☹️

Oh no, I hope Mango is okay. I hope you're right it was just a misjudged swipe and they can hopefully bond together x

Thanks he got some of his favourite treats oregano and black Currant nuggets. They only get these occasionally as a special treat. They were sniffing each other through the bars earlier so fingers crossed.

If there is no teeth chattering or other hostilities through the bars, then the lunge does not count as a full-on fight. Perhaps another time? They seem to be at least happy as next door neighbours!

Mango is just back from the vets. It turns out it was a very nasty bite. It needed glued. It was right through all the layers of skin to his jugular. :no:So I think they will be remaining through the bars buddies.

Not having a good day as my husband also got burned at his work where his chef jacket caught alight. Feeling stressed.
