Fudge has went down hill a bit and the vet thinks it's due to her bladder. She has had recurring uti's for well over 6 months to which she responded to septrin. Her uti's where usually with no symptoms to her just evident on dipstick. They where treated due to her old age and low immune system making her high risk for infection spreading.
With each utI, the septrin has taken longer to work. She just had a 2 week course where the last 5 days of it she had clear dipstick tests.
5 days later blood and protein returned on urine dipstick and she was straining with urinating.
Started on septrin again aswell as cystease- 7 days in and the bladder isn't responding and she is very painful.around the bladder. Appetite diminishing and losing weight. Still eating hay and veg but picky with her pellets (which she usually devours).
No obvious crystal problem when looked under microscope and she was x-rayed tonight for stones- of which there was none.
Vet has given an injection of marbocyl and if she tolerates that okay over the next 24 hours, we will move onto an oral.course.also given subcutaneous fluids to try and flush bladder.
She cant have baytril as had it just under 2 years ago and she had diarrhoea for 2 weeks.. dehydration, loss of appetite.. with her being on diuretics for heart failure, diarrhea is a big danger for her. I know marbocyl is the same family but must be different in some ways I guess!
Does anyone have any experience with a. Oral marbocyl and b. Using it for bladder infections?
Thanks x
