I was not ready for this. I never would have been. Mary was meant to live forever.
My beautiful, funny, adorable floppy lipped and big butt Mary. I loved everything about you, I bought you home on the 19th December 2018. From a garage/pet shop that you had been stuck in for at least 2 months. There wasn’t much information on you, ex-breeding sow. Perhaps around 2 years old. You was huge and fuzzy. And I loved you the moment I met you.
You instantly got along with Olive and Opal, you looked after them and helped them come out of their shy little shells.
A while later you got yourself a boyfriend, Spike. It was an instant bond. Two funny fuzz balls always hanging out together.
We sadly lost spike to sudden bloat Perhaps a year later. We was all heartbroken. But you and the girls soldiered on.
A few months later, Patrick came into our lives. You accepted him as the new boarfriend and put up with his funny character. He loved you a lot!
During these times you battles a few uti problems and got diagnosed with you entropion eye. All things that we managed well and didn’t cause many issues.
Once again.. we lost another. Patrick passed onto rainbow bridge with a long stint of bloat. Another hole in all our hearts.
You hated being picked up, you’d sometimes squeal and kick out on anger. You’d bite me while trimming your nails! But I loved you even more for it. You were quirky and strong minded.
Olive and Opal still looking up to you. We adopted Newton into our herd, Again, you was happy to have a boarfriend to help keep the little girls in place. Newton brought a lot of joy back to us all.
We also remember the time we tried intoducing you to Wilma, a new girl. Well that was the only pig you ever disliked! She was too similar to you, strong minded and quietly the boss. We sadly lost Wilma too.
I have so many fond memories with you Mary.
I loved your wiggly big bottom during floortimes.
You loved watching and waiting out your ‘window’ for meals to be prepped. My gosh you loved food!
I can’t write any more. This hurts so much.
This morning we made the decision to say goodbye after a sudden and very severe case of stupid bloat. I’m so glad you enjoyed your veggies yesterday, even though I could tell you was little quite and not yourself. But you was still begging at the bars for more. I gave you soaked pellets after dinner as that your favourite. I went to bed as you was munching away on them.
But this morning. You didn’t want your breakfast salad.
A scan confirmed the worst.
I’m sorry Mary. We all love you.
I hope you have found Spike and Patrick and you are all eating all the veggies and grass you could ever wish for.
