Matthew has gone into gut stasis

Sorry I have missed this thread @eileen . I hope that Matthew continues to improve. Lovely to see his little wifelets are keeping him company. xx

Sending big hugs.xx

I do love how piggies rally round to support each other when needed. Dear Samantha supporting her man. I’m hoping that Matthew will soon turn a corner @eileen.

C'mon Matthew :luv:, truckloads of healing vibes being sent your way for a full & speedy recovery
Your momma & wifepig need you to 'down' the yummy recovery food 😋
Luv to all & hopefully handsome Matthew's on the road to recovery. ❤️
Take care of yourself too.

The girls & I xx

Aw poor Matthew, hope he picks up again- glad he is getting so much support from his wifepigs, are they sharing their healthy healing poops?
When Blod had no appetite after her doxycycline antibiotics disrupted her guts she made a deal with Piggle that Piggle could have most of Blod's dinner if Blod could stand behind her eating all her fresh poops, worked very well! My lot are a very poop sharing bunch though, both Jezzy and Theo have tried to feed me fresh poops before which is very kind of them... sort of!

Sorry I missed this as it is in the Chat and not in the H&I section.

All the best for Matthew!

Matthew is much brighter, still needing top up feeds.he now has very sore feet.he has vet bed.ive an appointment with Kim next week.thanks for asking.x

Wishing him all the best!
Looking after guinea pigs with limited or no mobility

The f&m ointment from Gorgeous Guineas really helped me with a similar problem with my oldie Nerys when she developed mild bumblefoot due to her reduced mobility and no longer quite optimal blood circulation in the wake of her temporary back leg paralysis. It was likely more the latter than the first, since like you I was changing her bedding constantly.

Thankyou very much for the great guide.ive been soaking all Matthews feet for ten minutes ,using f & m ointment when feet have dried.the scabs have now fallen off. Hes started to eat hay for himself, but I'm giving 60mls aday top up feed.he is such an obliging guinea pig.He never moans.his wives have had some submission screaming going on,just whilst Matthew has been unwell.but he is beginning to tell them off,as he is the top pig !I will be pleased when he has had his check up at the vets. Thanks everyone for all your support during Matthews illness,he is very dear to me.

Just catching up with this thread, so glad Matthew is doing so well!
It really is a testament to your expert care and dedication, so many gut stasis threads end badly I almost darent look for updates sometimes but it seems like you've got him over the worst and paws crossed he'll be back in fine fettle very soon x

my 3 year old matthew went into gut stasis monday afternoon.the signs were weakness, and no poo output.Monday night i managed 30mls feed in 6 hours.decidede i needed sleep.when i awoke tuesday,i could see it was a fight for his life.i rang my vet whom agreed i could give medication i had at hand.so i fed 2 to 4 hourly for 48 hours.today there is improvement, but its taking 3 hours to get 15mls of feed ,he is still very weak.I'm so greatful to Weibkes thread on Pila Palas gut stasis thread,as Matthews seems to be following the same course.it stopped me panicking. seeing no poos for two days.I'm just going with the flow, sleeping when i can.Just hopeing Matthew pulls through.Hes had not had any bloat.the gut stasis came on at frightening speed.he had eaten alot of fresh grass Monday and that seems to be the cause. Thanks to the detailed thread it has enabled me to have some knowledge of what to expect
poor thing! wishing matthew the best :)
