Meet Edamame šŸ˜

How lovely that Eddie can come home tomorrow. So sorry that Tofu is unwell. He is such a darling boy.

Look who just arrived home!

I think he remembers where he is, because within five minutes he was zooming! He’s bright and active and munching on his hay

Rescue said he’s been eating and I’ve got Metacam to give him

Tofu emerged from his nap spot as soon as I got Eddie out of the carrier. He’s been pressed up against the bars ā¤ļø as long as Eddie seems to be settling okay, I’m going to attempt to reintroduce them tomorrow. I’m sure it will do them both the world of good to have company while they recover

I'm sure it will! Uncle Tofu is probably wondering why on earth there are bars in the way.
I think he is a bit confused! I can’t explain to them that I didn’t want to risk reintroduction until I knew for sure Ed was okay and settled haha
Glad he’s home and doing well.
Tofu will be better for having Ed back too.
Thank you ā˜ŗļø Tofu is noticeably happier. He’s been doing some splayed-out naps and eating more hay, I think - his weight tomorrow will tell me for sure

Eddie had the longest nap of his life (a good three hours), but he woke up for veggies and did a nice big rumble through the bars to announce his presence to Tofu. They’ve been face washing and Ed bit the bars to try get to his uncle boar ā¤ļø we’re definitely going to try reintroducing tomorrow

Eddie is just as bright and enthusiastic as ever! At least his neuter went smoothly ā˜ŗļø

Back in the cage together and having joint naps ā¤ļø they went back together as if nothing happened!

Hopefully they’ll both start bouncing back now. Their weights were both a little down this morning so Eddie gets his own batch of critical care instead of only stealing Tofu’s šŸ˜‚

When Eddie grows up he'll have a girlfriend!

I would do the same but now that Stripe's CBS doesn't seem to be affecting him, I don't know who to neuter!

It’s challenging to know whether to do it or not, isn’t it! I never neutered Tofu because he lived with his brother and I didn’t know which one to do, or both, and then he wasn’t in great condition after we lost his brother (several illnesses)

I neutered Ed mostly because there’s a high chance he’ll be a teenager when it comes time to bond him again and I don’t need the added drama šŸ˜… plus being able to have girls means maybe more than two piggies in the future (if I manage to twist OH’s arm anyway!)

I am so relieved there’s no lasting problems with the bond. If anything there’s less drama than before! I feel awful I had to separate them at all, at least it wasn’t for long and they’re happy again now

OH just sent me this from downstairs. Napping together 🄰

Then Eddie did a big shake and showed off his tummy haha. Very blurry picture but he only did it for less than a second šŸ˜‚ he was doing proper zooms and wheeks for veggies again too

Tofu got a little pile of pea flakes to entice some more critical care down him ā¤ļø I wouldn’t normally give this much but I want his days to be happy at the moment

He’s been teaching Eddie where the begging spot is in the cage. They both run here as soon as I open the fridge šŸ˜‚

Eddie is doing much better, piling weight on and zooming as much as ever

Good vibes to Tofu for helping more Critical Care down the old hatch! The begging spot - in the corner closest to the fridge noise?

Is Eddie aware that he's lost his šŸ’? Or is it all good - no pain anymore etc?

Is Eddie still partly interested in being a good boy? Or is he all diabolical these days?

If I were to pig-knap anypig, it would be Edamame, but fortunately I'm happy to leave you the work while I enjoy his pigtures and your stories of his antics. Fortunately I'm also the other side of the English Channel from you and not a happy āœˆļø passenger or a :dri: tho I do like that emoji. :D

I read on Ophelia's thread that you're pretty stressed and tired with syringe-feeding Tofu so wishing you all the best with that and as much support as you need in other areas of your life @JaseChase

Thank you very much 🄰 that’s really lovely of you. Syringe feeding is always stressful, we’re up to four feeds a day to keep his weight stable

I’m also struggling because I know realistically we’re looking at end of life care with Tofu now. I hope he’ll be around for a good while, but with the bladder stone I just want to make sure he’s comfortable. We ultimately decided against the surgery. It was a really hard decision, he’s so borderline for if he’d make it through, but in the end it would be a really hard recovery for him and there is every chance the stones could recur. My vet has been wonderful, going through it all with me. He’s not very old (four and a half) but with his other health conditions and the drop in his weight, I just don’t feel it’s fair to put him through something so invasive

We’re focusing on keeping him happy, lots of treats, lots of cuddle time with his syringe feeds. Edamame is a little blessing, zooming everywhere and keeping Tofu active and happy. He brings me a lot of joy as well!

Luckily Ed is bouncing back from his neuter very well. His wound is healing nicely, he’s off Metacam and not showing any signs of pain, happily eating, his weight is on the up. He is one less thing to worry about ā¤ļø

(He is quite interested in this piggynap suggestion and wants to know if you’d give him unlimited pellets and pea flakes? šŸ˜‚)

Edamame has a very distinctive wheek. I can always tell it’s him kicking up a fuss because it sounds like a creaky door. Almost like his voice is breaking. A true teenager šŸ˜‚

Anyway, he storms around the cage yelling his head off whenever Tofu comes out for a syringe feed, so he now has a dedicated spoonful to himself

IMG_5137.webp

His weight is good enough that he doesn’t really need it anymore, but he’d riot if I stopped šŸ˜‚ just as much a menace post-neuter and I wouldn’t have him any other way

Tofu sits like an angel and gives me lots of licks for his feed ā¤ļø he’s on his best behaviour to prove the trouble all comes from Ed, I think!

Oh Edamame I think you're best off with your current slave! Pea flakes - maybe. Pellets - no chance! And no critical care off a spoon for little boys who can eat enough on their own.

Eddie is horrified at the thought of no critical care and has decided to stay šŸ˜‚ we tried reducing his dish today and he wheeked in despair. I’m sure he’ll get used to it!

He’s also staging a campaign to take over as boss pig from Tofu. The dominance is mild but Tofu is backing down now and letting Ed have the choice of hideys - I think he’s relieved to have a leader again to be honest, he’s never been a fan of being in charge

Eddie’s new favourite sleeping position is the superman pose to prove what an excellent boss he is
