Luigi sounds like a tiny handful!
I've got updates!
They are incredible. Git is always copying her mama. But they both have very distinctly different tastes in veggies. They will both eat all of them now but Git much favors her greens and Perl much favors the bell peppers. I think this has something to do with us being on the orange one currently. She is in for a big surprise when we finish this one and go to the green one!
I do worry that I'm not feeding them enough. They're always ridiculously excited around food time. They usually have hay and pellets. Though, sometimes their pellets are gone by the time their next salad is ready.
I feed them 1 cup of salad (total for the both of them) twice a day. It's usually mostly greens and about 4 little squares of bell peppers. About 1/8th of a pepper in each salad. Sometimes there's carrot tops. Sometimes there's carrots. Sometimes there's green beans. Once there were strawberries and all they ate were the greens. Tomorrow they will each have a little bit of apple as a treat.
But no matter how much they're fed they seem always starving. I know that's a thing. But it worries me.
We do floor time every night now. This took a few days of me sitting there with the door open, playpen and toys all set up, and them not coming out despite being awake and active. Finally, Perl ventured out and found the plate full of forage. It was cute, she went back into the cage and it seemed like she talked to Git to convince her to come out. Because, right after, Git followed her out. Today was the third day of floor time.
Git is still timid around me. But whenever she comes up to me I make sure to show her my hands. Sometimes with treats, sometimes without. Today she wasn't worried at all with my hands so I wiggled my fingers slowly. She was fine with that. So I reached out and touched her nose softly. She didn't understand that, but also didn't run and hide. I decided to let her be after that. She's so heckin' sweet.
And then the bad news... My fiance and I have discovered WE ARE BOTH ALLERGIC TO THEM! We're not sure if it's dander, their hay, dust from the paper bedding, or what. We're getting an air purifier delivered on Wednesday, but if that doesn't help we're going to have to move on. It's very sad, but there's no way this is sustainable.
It's either allergies or we caught the Covid-19 virus. Either is plausible as we live in the Seattle metro area, and my company is not taking any safety measures seriously. Oyyy.
