Meet Romana!

Ouch the size of that stone, no wonder she had a lump. That poor piggy is so lucky to have found you, she must be feeling so much better.

Big hugs and loads of kisses for Romana from my piggies. I know how it is to have a dental piggie and also another with kidney and bladder stones. I hope she recovers well. Thank you for rescuing her!

That is good news! I love it when they start shouting for food! She must be settling in nicely and enjoying life! It must be lovely to have a piggie get more confident by the day. She will never forget her difficult start in life but will enjoy her lovely future with you!

It was funny because I was pouring dried food out for one of the cats when I heard this squeaking and I was thinking “what’s that noise?”, and then I saw Romana poking out the pigloo and realised it was her! She’s got a quiet little wheek, bless her, nowhere near as loud as the gobby lot downstairs! :))

It'll get louder now she's found her voice!:)

Little update on Romana:

She’s continuing to enjoy grated carrot and leafy greens, and she’s started shouting for food! :))

Hey Liane! Aww I'm so sorry she was left in this state by her other owners! I saw your nail post too! We're they someone you knew? How did you find out she needed rehoming? I'm glad she found you :-)
Good on you for taking her on! I hope her teeth get better I really do, she didn't deserve that start :-(
How is she now?

I follow a Sanctuary, who mentioned that they had been asked to take in a guinea pig but didn't have the room so I got in touch and offered.

She's doing good - making slow progress weight-wise, but she seems happy enough and is getting braver (in my room, at least, she's still not keen on going downstairs). I'm hoping to introduce her to my others soon. She is, as I write this, happily munching on sum nuggets!

Birthday snuggles with Romana!

I had put ‘permission to adopt another piggy’ on my birthday list, with the intention of looking for a special little piggy in May, but then the universe spoke and gave me Romana, so it became retrospective piggy-permission :))

Aww thats great to hear she's doing better :-) must be hard work! Do you still have to syinge feed her?

I syringe feed her a little each day, but try to encourage her as much as possible to eat on her own :)

Romana update!

The second bottom tooth is showing signs that it may be regrowing! We were concerned that she would only ever have one bottom tooth, and obviously it’s still early days because we don’t quite know what condition it will grow back in, but we’re keeping our fingers crossed!

The broken top tooth still looks a bit peculiar, so we’ll see what Simon says at her next dentist appointment.

Romana is a bit of a fussy eater - she only seems to ever want grated carrot, and the odd bit of cucumber. I’m hoping the others will give her some encouragement when she is introduced - which we plan to do this weekend!

Good luck hope all goes well with that. Pleased to learn about the bottom tooth. Are the teeth looking a better condition yet?

Hope all goes well. She is a stunning little lady

Her ‘good’ tooth (relative to the other teeth, anyway) is looking a tiny bit healthier, but I think it’s still early days. She’s certainly eating better, though, so I’m hopeful that she’ll have a semi-decent set of teeth by the end of the year! I think we’ve still got quite a few trips to see Simon ahead of us :))

I’m just pleased that she’s at a stage where I can introduce her to the other pigs; although I’ve taken her in to see them, and she’s had lap cuddles with them, it’s not the same as living together. She must be lonely. She squeaks when she hears them shouting for food, which is cute :luv: I think I’ll likely have to still feed her separately, but at least she will have others to snuggle with!

Big day for Romana today!

She was finally introduced to three of my other piggies. Introductions went well, Romana seemed very happy to have company. Need to keep an eye on Clara as she can be a bit of a moody pig.

Had a bit of a kerfuffle in the tunnel that joins the two segments, which really upset Romana so I’m keeping an eye on her at the moment.

Aww such a lucky girl, her face in the last photo says a thousand words. She will feel so much happier now.
