Missing Pig!

I'm frantic with worry. One of my pigs has gone missing from the hutch and run. Went out to feed them this morning and there was only two there. Panic stations ensued, and fortunately I found one hiding under the barbecue. Now my neighbour says she heard squeaking in the garden this morning and the neighbour's cat was about. Mabel has been gone at least two hours and there's no sign of her or the horrible cat. The hutch was all locked up and they were definitely all away last night. If the cat has managed to get in, I have no idea how. Or where Mabel is because she can't get out the garden.

I feel sick.
 
Oh god, I hope she turns up! Keeping everything crossed for you :(
 
I sugget you put some hideys out - or upturned cardbox box - just in case.

Yep agree with above - Id be putting boxes and pet carriers in the garden / under the hutch with bits of food /hay inside. The fact she cant get out of the garden is good - everything crossed.
 
Oh heck! That's terrible. Do you suspect tampering?
Piggy Owner's idea is a very good one, and put some tempting food in there and a bowl of water, though keep a very regular check for rodents.
I would post some pictures up around your neighbourhood too.

Oh - with regards hidies, she may prefer one with more than one entrance so that she can escape if she feels threatened by something. I'd suggest putting a variety out if you can.
 
I know a of a cat who managed to carry a small Rabbit over a tall fence :( Rabbit was never seen alive again.
I really hope this hasn't happened to your piggy, Cat's can be pretty ingenious when they want something badly.
 
It's a horrible (pardon my language) which is known for killing stuff for fun. It's owner isn't home at the moment but I'll knock on later and check

True but there are plenty of cats that would back down as soon as rodent teeth come into the equation. It's a possibility, but please don't give up hope. xx

:yikes:Very sorry to hear this. You must be frantic with worry. This seems to be happening a lot these days. I do hope your poor little piggie turns up safe and sound very soon.
 
They hate being indoors. Couldn't wait to get outside in spring. I don't have the room for them and they love the space of their run and eating grass whenever they want.
 
Don't blame yourself . I just hope she's OK and you find her.

Sorry to hear what has happened I hope you find your piggy safe and sound.
 
What a terrible situation! I'm so sorry! Has she been found yet?

I agree with all those who are saying to put out hidey boxes and food. Maybe some she's used so they smell familier to her.

Could you set the run up near any hedges or places where she might be? If she sees or hears the rest of her herd she may run back towards them.

As for the cat, I found squirting the one that kept coming into my garden with water was a quick and easy method to "convince" it to stay away. ;)

I hope she's found before to long!
 
Does anyone know of any rescues in Lancashire? Contacted the local vets and pets at home (they have an adoption bit) and RSPCA but wondered if there's anywhere else I can try? I'm so worried about her. I don't have kids and they're like my little people. The others don't seem to bothered she's gone but I just need to make sure she's not hurt or anything like that.

I don't know of any myself but you could try googling it. Someone else may know better than I do.
Put up some posters on your street with her picture. I know you said that she couldn't get out your garden but you'd be surprised at how easily they can squish themselves through gaps. Maybe you could knock on the doors of the houses in your street and ask if anyone saw anything? If they've not see your pig, maybe they've seen that cat somewhere.

Is she squealing randomly, when you pick her up or when she limps?
 
So pleased you found her I've been feeling quite sick for you, getting more and more tense as I read the post. Everything crossed that she is going to be all right.
 
When she's picked up and when she's limping. It's her front left leg. But she's moving about (trying to escape the waiting area of the vets!) and eating. And she's pooed on me too. Syringe fed her some water and waiting to see what the vet says... And what the damage is
