the newest photo of Milo reminded me of a very embarrassing story from January time ") i was ill, and had been rushing around my animals, to get everybody sorted out. i went outside and did the piggies food and hay, and then came back inside to go to bed.

the next day when i went to check on everybody, i couldn't find Allie anywhere. i was in pieces, and we pretty much tore apart my garden. we were pretty hopeful though, as because of all of our animals, we pet proofed everything to keep them safe. i searched for Allie for hours that night, and the morning after. i thought i was going insane, as i could swear i could hear her squeaking, but just couldn't find her anywhere. i eventually convinced myself that it was in my head, as it sounded muffled and eerie.

the morning after (when Allie had been missing for about 32 hours 8...), I went out to search for her again. And still couldn't find her. then my little brother came over to me, grinning like the cheshire cat, and handed me Allie. I sobbed into her fur, and took her to the vets to make sure she wasn't ill. as it turns out, Zacari found her in the 'animal' wheelie bin, snuggled into some hay. as it turned out, i'd thrown her away with the hay the day that i'd been ill :red

needless to say, i've never rushed anything pet related since...

Oh my word! Poor piggy and poor you xx
Glad she was found in time and that she had some hay to keep her going :))

oh that is hilarious!but scary! you need a sign on your bin saying please dont put your pets in!or signs on their cages saying can not be recycled!

Ouch! What a worrying time! I am glad that you found her in the end and that she was none the worse for wear.

Thankfully, I have always found my garden roaming piggies although they had sometimes to sit out a sudden rain or hail shower under a shrub when they were refusing to cooperate coming back before time or bolting from a sudden rumble of thunder.

Baby Telyn has spent a few nights out in the living room because she was sometimes able to squeeze out between the two abutting cages of a slightly different size that I was using at that time, and then go to sleep either in the crack between the two cages or hidden under a ramp. It took me quite some time to find her happily asleep first time round! rolleyes

And a heavily pregnant Minx managed to go AWOL from roaming time in the then carpeted hall - until I hit upon the idea of calling out for food and got a faint wheek from upstairs! What a time to discover a new hobby! It was not easy to keep a straight face trying to explain to the gas man that all that cardboard on the staircase was there to make it guinea pig proof! mallethead

Call me paranoid, but I always take a head count of the tribe before I go to bed! :))

Am sorry I couldn't help laughing. Poor Allie, glad she turned up ok.

Awww how horrid for both of you. Glad you found her.
When I turned five my parents bought me my first guinea pig and I was sat on the garden wall with my mum just before we were going to go out for the day for my birthday. I was feeding her and she bit me probably by accident and I dropped her :( She dashed off down the garden path and my dad spent ages looking for her but couldn't find her. He looked again that night until it got dark and it was July so it must have been quite late. He found her the next morning under the compost heap in a little hole no worse for her adventure.

it was a horribly worrying time. it was actually the same day Molly's brain tumour kicked in. that happened, she was circling, and i got a migraine. i slept in the dining room with her that night, and Molly had her trip to the vet the day after and was put to sleep. i think that's why i forgot to put it up here before. i was absolutely distraught. it was a little ray of sunshine when Allie was found the day after, as i'd started thinking the worst by that point.

in hindsight, it's rather funny that i actually binned the guinea pig, but at the time, it was pretty horrendous mallethead

How worrying for you but how fortunate you got her back. We lost the hamster once. After 36 hours we were in tears in the living room and he just sauntered in through the door as if nothing had happened much to our relief.
