I do not have a guinea rescue in my area so when looking for a friend for a guinea that was given to my daughter by a family that could not care for it, I turned to Craigslist and looked for the guinea that seemed in need of a loving home most. I found my boar Jack. He was purchased from a pet store and his owners simply couldn't give him the love and attention he needed. When he came to me he looked healthy. I kept him and my other boar apart for a few days so he could get used to his surroundings. Once we introduced them they got along well and are now in the same cage. It seems though that Jack brought with him some mites or a fungal infection. I don't know exactly which as the other guinea has always been healthy. I have no idea exactly how to treat this ailment. Also, they have both been spending time together and I am unsure of whether to separate them, especially since they are just getting used to one another. Any advice would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.
