Junior Guinea Pig
Inhave 4 boars in 2 pairs. My oldest two are called Jamie and Soarky and are 5 nearly 6. Unfortunately around a year ago, Jamie lost over 250g and had to be out under anesthetic so that they could file his teeth. He has gained weight since then and everything has been fine. Today for the weekly weigh-ins, I picked up Sparky and could immediately tell that he was much lighter than usual. He has lost 120g. I checked his teeth and they are on a diagonal. He has been eating as normal and doesnt seem to be in pain but neither was Jamie when he was having dental issues. I'm hoping that he will not lose more weight like Jamie. I have of course made a vet appointment for as soon as possible, and will weigh him daily. Might start with some critical care feed. Does anybody know if there is anything that can be done to prevent this from happening to the teeth bevause I am so scared that this has now happened to Sparky and I really dont want to have to go through everything with Sparky that we went through with Jamie. And certainly wouldnt want it to happen with my other 2 boys aswell. Is there a chance that it couldn't be the teeth? I'm so scared for Sparky.
