In a bid to save some money and also to be organic, I planted some seeds a few months ago. I planted kale, cabbage, brocoli, sweetcorn, chicory and carrots.
Wow! The leaves have now all appeared and I have been picking off leaves for the boys and mixing it in with their normal supermarket veggies. They now dig out my homegrown bits and eat them first! I am so delighted!
I don;t have a big garden, I used any spare bit of earth and bought some deep pots and filled them with compost. THe sweetcorn has leafy stalks, no cobs yet, I doubt I will get cobs as I live in the north of Scotland and not much sun, but they love the leaves! It's saved me so much money and I have the satisfaction of giving them something totally fresh.
I've never attempted vegetable growing before, but I would definately do it again.
