Hi,

I was looking for a some advice. So my guinea pig seems to have something stuck in her mouth or probably lodge between her teeth, not the front 4. I only feed her hay, pellets, and veggies, noting with seeds or that could possible hurt her. I started to notice that she was making movements with her mouth like trying to dislodge something and a couple hours after she attempted to eat food and would spit it out and go back to moving her mouth around. It’s been a couple hours now and she’s eating again, but continues to make the same movements like something is still there bothering her. I tired checking her mouth, but i don’t want to get her or get bit. Could she possible be able to get it out eventually on her own or should I head to the vet? She doesn’t seem to be in pain and can breath normally, I just want to make sure she’s comfortable and won’t get stressed out. Any advice? :(

Hi!

I would strongly recommend to see a vet. It could be something she's been gnawing on that has got stuck and is making chewing and swallowing difficult.

Thank you, I will definitely take her!

How is she now?
She’s eating like normal, but moves her mouth like it’s still bothering her here and then, not as much as before I can tell it’s not bothering her as much as before. I’m worried it’s prolly just got more stuck in her mouth or something so it’s not in the way like before, so to get the worry off my back I’m taking her to the vet in the morning to get checked.

I hope the vet was able to solve the problem and she is dong better now.
Well done for having her seen so soon.

When mine did this it indicated a problem with her molar teeth

Good luck. Hope they can find what the problem is.

Hello Everyone,

They vet I went to wasn’t the best. The vet tried to look in her mouth but said he couldn’t do much because she was moving and honestly I didn’t even know what to say. I left and took my piggy home to let her rest because I know she was scared. After the visit I noticed she started acting normal again as if it went away, for now i’m keeping a eye on her and watching what I feed her. You guys won’t believe the amount of vets I called asking if they see guinea pigs and that was the only vet that said yes so I decided to go there, but I have now found another vet that I feel like i could trust more.
