As the title says, my lot are giving me sleepless nights.
After losing Ralph and Holly, I had finally managed to get Hazel bonded in to the group with Evie, Iris and Boris and they were rubbing along nicely after some initial issues between Iris and Hazel.
Just been away for a week and before I went away I was doing all the usual health checks and noticed Boris had lost some weight. So he had a trip to the vets quick smart to see what was going on. After examination the vet found many lumps and suspected lymphoma so Boris underwent FNA and we were told to keep an eye on him. His results have since come back negative, but the plan is to monitor his weight and if necessary he may need blood tests. His weight is slightly down but I’m trying to see if he regains it after his stay at the boarders.
The day before they went into boarding for my holiday Iris had a funny turn and couldn’t get comfortable. She had also lost weight in the 2 days since she was last weighed. So she had an emergency trip to the vets. And nothing was found. But while we were away our incredible pet boarder was regularly weighing her and found she was still losing weight. So she has been getting top up feeds throughout her stay, and I’m continuing with this. But despite eating well (hay, pellets, veggies) she has still been losing weight. So she’s been back to the vets for a further examination and as nothing was found, she’s had blood tests taken. I’m hoping we will get the results today and they may shed some light on what is going on.
This morning Evie (often got sensitive guts) is producing very soft misshapen poop so I’ve taken her off her veggies and her weight is also slightly down.
And Hazel refuses to be caught today so I’ve no idea how she’s doing weight wise but anyone so determined not to be caught is probably doing ok in my book.
So all in all, this little group are giving me sleepless nights. I don’t like mysteries. Especially ones that come with ever shrinking pigs and an ever decreasing bank balance.
