My piggies have tripled in size

I've only got one photo of my current cages. I should take some more the lights not good enough today, the weather is horrible today.

This is Bertie and Duck they don't have hay on the newspaper, I was in the middle of cleaning them out. They won't bond so they live side by side. Red and Brillo are on the other side of the room in 2 4x2 C&Cs side by side, they had a rolling ball fight when they had been together for over 2 years. None of my 4 singles will bond unfortunately. Timmy and Freddie are in a 5x3 on a table above Duck and Bertie, that's what the black legs are!

Wow that is a very impressive set up..... Sorry to hear about the bonding but they seem to have fantastic palaces and even better if they don't have to share 😊

My boys are in a 5x2 with penthouse (5x2)View attachment 250653. They used to be free roaming but we needed to lift the cage for cleaning as it was killing our backs. I have door grids in the middle three for access.

This is amazing aswell, I'm getting some fab ideas from you all! Yes, I'm with you on the cleaning at floor level, I'm finding it a task too. I bet they love this 😍

The set ups were even better when they weren't divided and housed lovely bonded pairs. I had years of boar pairs, lovely softies who when one passed on would bond happily with another. I used to wonder what all the fuss was about boars being difficult. Ha ha! I keep telling them look at all the wonderful room you would have if you would just love one another and we could take away the dividers. They get on really well and chat at the fence but change into snappy monsters if in a bonding pen.

It’s lots of hay and grass which will help them to gain weight. Giving unlimited pellets at any time is not a healthy and a sustainable way to keep weight on them. It can actually do the opposite - they may have some left but it could also mean they are still overeating pellets (ie empty calories) and undereating hay for a large chunk of time.
If your piggies are skinny and not maintaining weight, have you looked into any potential issues as to why?

Absolutely all fruit and veg contain some vitamin c - it’s just there is varying amounts in them.
They are not likely to get too much vit c from veg as it does degrade in fresh food over time but also because their needs are met with our recommended diet -
Plenty of hay and grass, daily veg (pepper, coriander, cucumber and lettuce), a small amount of pellets (which are fortified).
Fruit and root veg should not be fed, except for a very occasional treat. Mine only get a piece of carrot peeling at Christmas and one slice of apple in the summer

Long term overuse of vit c supplements (rather than veg) can cause issues but we don’t see scurvy in piggies fed a balanced diet. Any small excesses in fresh food and pellet proportion of the diet is excreted in urine without issue. We tend to only see scurvy in over supplemented (as in actual bit c supplements) piggies.

Thanks for your input and advice.

I never used to feed pellets, I just added a few months ago. They prefer hay and grass over their pellets. When i say unlimited, i have one small bowl per pig and or treat dispensing toys. They each contain 2 tablespoons and each morning most of it goes into a container so not to attract mice through the day. I have cameras, they all have a nibble, no ones being a pig ironically.

They are just active, they have access to my completely enclosed one acre property.
I'm not concerned, they're not underweight. They're just not fat.

Neither am I, neither are my three dogs. We all eat plenty of food. We all eat high good fat foods, and we all get loads of exercise daily.

Obesity is preventable and causes many health issues, I'm all about prevention over cure.

Oh bless them, so now your experience is with the fussy boars 😂 so I could potentially end up with 3 set ups if my little piggies decide they don't want to room share anymore......

What cuties! What are their names? My little girls are hay eating machines; they are so big now but...definitely not done growing! I wish they could just grow and grow until they're the size of a lap dog haha

Alpha is the brown and white, Bravo is white stripe nose, Charlie is mainly black. Awww what are your girls called and photos 😍 Love seeing everyone's little piggies.

These 3 enjoy the hay too but they absolutely sit waiting for the veg platter haha!

What neat names, I like the theme! These are my girls, the white one is White Tea and the black and brown one is Coffee Bean. Hope to see more of your boys in the future!

Ignore the awful angle but you can just see the target bottom 😂😂😂

I love piggies with sexy underwear!

I've currently got two of them: My Begw 'Little Pearl' (Welsh for Peggy) is sporting a fairly modest number but my Baeddan 'Boar' has got a smaller one, more like the 'budgie smuggler' swimwear, as we call them in the UK! :D

So the boys have some new toys..... Bit unsure at the moment but hoping they will soon be zooming around enjoying it all.

They were great tonight and seemed to enjoy being handled, they even sat on my 5 year olds lap lovely which he was so happy about.
