You have to use an absorbent layer underneath as otherwise it will be wet and smell. I use towels for my absorbant layer but a lot of people use puppy pads. I changed to fleece as one of my piggys was really sensitive to any dust and sneezed a lot. it is also just the normal fleece blankets we use I got mine from matalans (if your from UK) but aparantly primark do better ones if you decide to go for fleece you've got to wash it 3-4 times without softener before using it. You know it's ready when you drop some water on it and it goes straight through. Never wash it with softener though. Hope this has helped
