Hi everyone
I just wanted to see if i could get any advice. My baby Fudge died on monday as she had developed utherus tumor and had a surgery that seemed to go well and she apparently woke up (as she stayed with vets after surgery) but sadly had a possible complication in the eavning and passed away.
She had a cage mate Toffee whos now alone. We too her to say goodbye when collecting Fudges body yesterday but Toffee just touced the nose of her sister and wanted back to her box.
To make it easier to us and hopefully to Toffee as well we got rid of their shared cage after Toffee had few hours in there on Monday before we knew that her sister had passed away. Shes now in a single cage by my bed.
I dont know if she is fully fine as she seem to eat hay and veggies (not as much the dry food by the looks of the things) howewer i have only seen her drink once and she only touched the bottle once. To comfort her we stuffed an old stuffy rabbits toy with socks and she seem to be close to it.
Howewer its really hard for me to deal with the whole thing because loosing my lil baby has broke me. Dont get me wrong i love both my piggies equaly but Fudge was really close to me and i only had her for 6 months (we rehomed the sisters last june) and we was away 3 weeks so i only had 4 days with her since we got back. I try my best to comfort Toffee but as they never really liked cuddling (being outside piggies for around 4 yrs) and its difficult to get her out of the cage every time.
I am not planning to get another pig (i know its possibly harsh on Toffee but i dont want any more pets after her because its hurt me so much already) and giving her away is not an option (even if i could go and see her every day with new family) but I'm so hurt atm and dont know how to deal with the whole sitiuation. I'm sorry about the very long thread but if anybody can help me i would really apreciate it. Thank You
