KaitRoo
Junior Guinea Pig
This morning Bella didn't surface at breakfast time, so I went under the log to check on her and she was moving around but struggling for breath and quite cold. I took her out and let her breathe some steam from a hot mug to try to clear her airways then took her to bed on a warm hot water bottle. She kept moving her head around and resting it on my nose.
She seemed to want to go back with the others so I put her back for a bit then got them out to swap the bedding over. before putting Bella back in, she kept squirming to get away from me and hide, I tried to give her a bit of water as she seemed quite dry on her ears, she died a few mins after I tried to give her some water and now I feel like it's all my fault. I don't know her age exactly but she was between 6 & 7, I took her in just under 3 and a half years ago.
She is my NICEST, most gentlest pig, I took her in 3 and a half years ago from a friend at work, who has taken her in temporarily as her previous owners were going to unneccesarily have her PTS because her cagemate had died. I agreed to have her and she's been a mother and grandmother to all my pigs, so soft and gentle she warms any heart. Cuddle times would be spent sitting on my chest chirping away(not running off like the others).
she was happily munching away at veggie time last night. I knew straight away this morning that she wouldn't make it through today, but now I feel as though I contributed to her departure by trying to give her some water.. Just wondering if anyone else in the piggy herd has experienced a similar thing when a pig has been dying? I'm so devastated and going to miss her to the end of the earth <3 <3
