we collected these rabbits the female is under a year old and had 9 litters one after another, the last being only last week which she killed she has 5 week old babies with her but they are the size of 3 week olds , they kept her with a boy rabbit twice her size i dont know what breed he is maybe lop cross he is dark brown on top and orange underneath id say year to 18 months old he has been biting her and mating on her non stop and from size of him eating all the food, he is nervous but not aggressive and the female is very friendly but so saggy where she is continually filled with milk and pregnant and has bite marks and bald patches over her, the babies are nervous but not been handled too much, the people was told they was two females but after first litter surely you would have seperated them and stop unwanted babies, they have been checked over and in good heatch considering the mum just needs a long rest and NO more babies, I will be looking for a home for dad but will keep mum till I know these no more babies on the way then she will be looking for a loving home

female i have named Dolly

the dad is going to be homed seperatly and i will advise that person to neuter, I'm just worried mum will have yet another litter in few weeks, vet seems to think she may not cope too well but too late to do any thing

Poor things. My rabbit had 3 litters one after the other and that really took its toll on her, so 9 litters is just awful.
I really hope she isn't pregnant again.

I wouldn't be without my Dutch bun, she's lovely. ;) Where about are you Leanne, I'll have a word with the wife about Dolly, but I can't promise anything.

hiya I'm in yorkshire, but my partner travels all over with work a lot :-)
she is so friendly she was playing with my 4 year old and just wanted to be cuddled

Lovely bunnies, I love Dutch buns.

Any possibility you can get Mum spayed soon? Some people don't think it very nice but it would be kinder on her than another pregnancy.

i would love to spay her but i could not afford it I'm not a rescue just someone who likes to help out every now and then :-), i recently paid £100 getting my pair of my own done, but vet seems to think she may not be able to bring up more babies, the last litter a week ago was killed :-(

If you can and have clippers I would shave off the hair around the bite mark and keep it clean. It is what the vets would do and it would be less stressful for her if you just did it yourself instead of a trip to another strange place.

She is beautiful and those babies are darling. Daddy is also very handsome but he's HUGE!

I hope that she is not pregnant again but if she is she will have your help the whole way through instead of mean old daddy bunny biting on her. Good Luck! :)

I'm over on the west coast of Cumbria, couldn't get any further apart! I'll continue to badger the wife and try and wear her down like I did with the new piggies. She would a perfect dutch hutch mate for Betty. She is so affectionate and playful, so it sounds like they would be good together. Bets is just over 2 and has never had babies.

The people seemed to think it was natural, but in the wild she wouldnt be trapped in a hutch with him

My last 2 buns have both been does and have never seen a buck. My girlies have remained pure. ;)

This poor little girlie..........i'm sitting here crying just thinking what she's been thru :0:0:0:0
oooooooooh some people make me so dam mad (yes i cleaned that up, sorry guys) :x
Thanks soooooooo much Leanne for rescuing both of them, now they can have caring and loving forever homes x) XXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXX

She will get special home and stay here until ahe finds it her and babies have porridge and milk for breakfast lol

Good news! The wife has said yes, once Dolly is back to full health and the kitts are weaned off her, there's a loving forever home here with me and Betty bun. ;)

Poor Dolly. She's such a pretty girl. So glad to hear she already has a loving home lined up!

Daddy and babies are lovely too :)

I showed the wife this topic with the pictures and she fell in love with Dolly, she loves Dutch bunnies and feels that Betty and Dolly will be great hutch mates. It's perfect that Bets has a new roomie now that Barty is with the girls. ;)

That's it, it's all sorted with Leanne. Mummy bunny is coming to me once she has a clean bill of health. We're all looking forward to her coming to live with us. :)

:-) she has few weeks left to make sure she not pregnant if not she is good to go babies can leave her on 17th september so hopefully no more babies after that:-)

Like I said in the email, there is no chance on this earth will she get pregnant ever again. She's going to see out her days in a large hutch with a big safe garden and the company of another Dutch female. She will be spoilt rotten as Betty is. :Ayociexp120::Ayociexp120::Ayociexp120:

Oh what a sad story, I don't understand how people can let animals get in such conditions and not do a thing about it.

Good on you for taking her on, it would be great if she could have an emergency spay but I understand that sometimes funds don't allow, especially if you're not a rescue just a person with a huge heart.

Great news to hear that mum has a home though x

Reading this thread has just made my day, it was so sad seeing what that poor little rabbit had been put through but then to see she has been rescued, cared for and now has a forever home waiting for her, where she will learn what its like to be loved is wonderful :)

she is a lucky girl to have found a new home to go to were she will be loved :) the dad was lucky to he has gone to a nice family who are going to spend time bringing him round and being used to being with a family they also want one of the babies to so that will be nice
