Neutering

Theo's neutering cost £65 and included 2 post op checks, all the meds, and some loxicom and a bit of critical care to bring home. It is often subsidised in the UK (our vet said it was for them anyway) by animal charities. Theo had no external stitches just glue and the wounds were so tiny we could barely see them. He didnt lick that area at all and except for a bit of post-op drowsiness and a bit of swelling in the area and a rather funny walk for a couple of days he was fine.

Ok, dot has been checked. Simon said its most probably cystitis and that her bladder lump has gone down. He made her pee and she peed clear urine all over the wall. So dot is fine on no meds, just loxicom when i think she could do with it. Shes doing very well lately.

Burnie had his health check, heart seems fine, simon sais god hes a big lad already lol. 1.1kg . His front teeth are fine. Hes in for his op soon. I'm am absolutely dying with nerves, after simon said they do lose a few from anasthetic , but its normally the older bigger pigs. But he said he does so many neuters, and thats why has had enough to have lost some boars, but its a tiny percentage. I also learnt that the sows seem to handle the anasthetic when being spayed better for some unknown reason
 
I'm going to sleep for an hour then get on with preparing his cage for the return. Lol źzzźzzzz
 
Ive gone and got burnie a hay rack to stop any hay pokes.I cant avoid it completely but il do what i can
 
That is good news that Burnie is back and all is well (minus plums!:bye:) Now its the long ol' wait until end of November to hope him and Dot get on.
 
You must be so relieved, remember not to panic if he's sleepy and doesn't eat much tonight, but have the syringe feed ready! And be prepared for him to smell of hospitals, when we collected Theo the worst thing that made me cry and made his girlfriend piggy in the next door cage really anxious was that he didn't smell like himself at all- but once he'd recovered his usual lovely piggy boy smell we knew he was on the mend :)

I know what you mean about the hospital smell, wilkos animal cage spray smells exactly the same. Dot went under anasthetic for an xray a few months back and was squinty eyed after lol.

I have cc ready and about 50 syringes haha. Mostly all chewed tips from my old boy sky who wouldnt give the syringe back
 
We bought 5 sachets of critical care and a pack of 20 sachets of science selective recovery food and 20 assorted syringes for Theo, and he had 1 syringe feed, 2 slices of cucumber spread with critical care, then he was fine :) he only lost then regained within 48 hours about 20 or 30g in weight, but his poor devoted girlfriend Puggle in the nextdoor cage lost 60g that week worrying about him because he went away for 10 hours then came back smelling weird and sleepy!

Bless her. So nice that she cared about him so much.
 
They are very happily married (we have 4 ladies plus Theo but these 2 really are a proper couple, Theo adores her) but she made him wait 6 weeks after moving in together for a mating opportunity, he really had to work at it with ear licking and romancing and stopping all the macho stuff! He got nipped on the unmentionables so many times, but love prevailed :)
 
I never realised I missed the odour of little boars until it got disinfected away, once Theo was better we were all sniffing him appreciatively :)
 
Glad to hear all has gone well. The boy will be back and demanding his tea again in no time.
