I just wanted to post a picture of our new addition, Jericho (the light piggie), we adopted him yesterday and we're really hoping it works out with him and Big's, we adopted due to poor Big's loosing his cage mate and my lovely boy Sheamus almost three weeks ago. He's about two years old.

Thank you :D He's a bit nippy though, apparently his previous owners didn't really handle him, just fed him and cleaned his cage :/ He's off for a check up tomorrow :)

He is a crested piggy. The little tufts at the back are from grooming himself by gently pulling hair through his teeth; likely from a bit of irritation in the skin. I see this occasionally on my own short-hairs. It should hopefully subside once the skin is better.

hahaha :D They are lovely :D Let me find the one's of my girls and two other boars lol. The girls are a mixture, can you tell when guinea's are related? For example Sheamus is the one in the picture on my profile but Big's is brown and we got them as a bonded pair. Apparently from the same person.

No, you can't safely tell. Guinea pigs can be different breeds in one litter.
These three girls here are litter sisters - and none looks like their mum; they were born a year ago at TEAS sanctuary and are permanent fosters.

Oh wow they do look different lol, we got the three (four with Badger) sows together and Badger was different again. Lovely girls :D

Awww bless them :drool::drool::drool:

So adorable, hope all goes well, remember to keep us updated

Jericho is gorgeous :) Hope the bonding goes well xx

Thanks @Critter I think Big E told him off earlier :/ not sure why but there's not any teeth chattering, just Big E looks grumpy... could he be missing Sheamus still even though Jericho is in there?

Possibly. Piggies don't always forget. I know someone who had to give up one of her piggies and kept in touch with the new owner. As it turned out the new owner had to give the piggy up, and she ended up back with the person I know - doing a full circle. This piggy remembered her favourite cage mate of over a year before and had a very happy reunion! But this does beg the question of how much they remember, and there's sadness in that perhaps our rescues remember the bad conditions they used to have. Or perhaps they only remember when something triggers it? I do digress but I do wonder sometimes about this.
Perhaps Jericho will never forget Sheamus. It's a nice thought really.
Anyway, it sounds like it's going well, a little grumpy happens to any bonded piggies :) xx

It's Big E that lost his mate :D and Jericho who were bonding with him.

It's like I said to my son, if I'm missing Sheamus as much as I do then how much is Big's missing him, I mean he was his cage mate after all, we would buy two houses or an house big enough for them both but Big's would nearly always sleep outside of Sheamus' door and when Sheamus was ill several times and the last time, Big's again sleeping next to him and was trying to clean his bottom (it looked like he was cleaning it). I feel very sorry for Sheamus and what he endured and also our other guinea pig Badger who's sister seem to do nothing but fight since she passed on, we assumed she was the dominant one. I also feel bad for Big's, the sows are ok they have each other regardless of the arguments but Big's was left with just us human's.

It does make you wonder what they remember especially when they nip or don't like to be held etc.

I had Big's out earlier giving him some smooches on his ear lol.

Sorry, got the names in a muddle :) Aw Big E must have really loved Sheamus. So sweet, and so sad. What a lovely sweet-heart he is though. x

Well he could be a bit spiteful to Sheamus at times, squashing the houses, sometimes shoving him away from things and I know thats meant to be a dominance thing but me and my son are convinced that Sheamus was dominant because when Big's humped Sheamus he did put up with it but he also told him off on many occasions, where as when Sheamus did it to Big's, Big's ran away whimpering rofl and not just that Big's would also get scare when Sheamus chattered his teeth at him lol. Sometimes I wonder if Sheamus was older because he didn't seem to want to hump all of the time, then again since having Sheamus he was ill several times with URI's and ear infections, it makes me wonder if he had the bladder problem the whole time, he ended up with two bladder stones which the vet said he would have had for a while, well we adopted him and Big's from a rescue just over a year ago so I don't know.

He was a very very pleasant little boy, him and my dog Calam are/were stand in's for boyfriends lol.
