Hello all, my name is Alyce (wheekerson) whichever you'd prefer.
I've never had a guinea pig before, but growing up I had my fair share of pets.
Anyways, now I am older, live in my own place with my bf, and I've FINALLY convinced him to get a pet. I contacted a local animal shelter yesterday and asked about guinea pigs. They informed me that the only guinea pig they had was in rough condition. They didn't know the age, sex, or anything...I don't really think they cared. They told me if it wasn't adopted within the next week it would be put down. I was heartbroken, so of course, I told them I would adopt the little piggy. I was at work, so I actually went through the adoption interview process over the phone right there, and was in the clear to pick up the piggy whenever I wanted in the next 4 days.
I want to make sure I have everything I need before I bring him or her home. My bf already has already built a C&C cage for the piggy. And a vet trip is already scheduled for next week.
So, what do I need exactly? What is best in terms of food, bedding, toys, hay. What about vitamin C? Any help would be greatly appreciated!
