New piggie, Corey

So my brother woke me up with a surprise gift today. A beautiful little guinea pig called Corey. He knew I was looking for a new friend for Romano and sadly hadn't realised I was only looking for rescue piggies. He bought the guinea pig from gum tree. He's 1.5 years old.

He's a gorgeous guinea pig and I've set up a cage in my bedroom for him to quarantine him in. Hopefully I will be able to boar date him with Romano. I'm going to read the boar dating guide many times over and try my best. He's very sweet. I hope no one is upset I ended up with a gum tree piggy instead of a rescue piggy. It's too late to say no as he was a gift. Please no rants at me for getting a gumtree piggy. :(

He seems to have blue eyes. Or the outter eye is blue. Very interesting.

He doesn't seem to like cucumber. I was surprised as all of mine stuff it down.

His inner eyes are a reddish/black colour depending on the light

Thank you. He's a very sweet piggie so far. He's eaten some dried grass from my hand and happily sat with me on the sofa for an hour. I'm just letting him relax upstairs now as its been a hard day. He ran away when my mum shouted my name but he just curiously watched me when I walked in the room so I have hopes he won't be too afraid. :)

Just tried him on a bit of lettuce and he seems to like that so I know I can give him that at least. He loves the pellets I gave him.
 
Aww he is totally gorgeous! It is really interesting as Ehab has eyes like him. I have never seen piggies with such eyes. Ehab's have a blue tint to them around the edges like your little one.

Please do not worry about anybody not being happy with you for not rescuing a guinea pig. The decision was taken out of your hands and you have given this little one a loving home.
 
He is very handsome. I hope he bonds ok with Romano. If your unlucky and they don't bond, will you take them both boar dating?

I've been very lucky with my girls as I really don't have the space to add another cage until I have moved house. Was worried for a while that they wouldn't get on though :)

Yes its very strange. His eyes are beautiful. I've never seen it before.

Thank you. :) Yeah I'm glad in a way I ended up with him as Gumtree is a horrible site and I'd dread to think of what could have happened to him.

Thank you. I hope so too. :) Romano is very relaxed so unless Corey is viscious I think they will get on.

I'll defintely take them both boar dating but probably have to leave Corey with the rescue as I have no room for six even though my heart would love to own six. :x

Oh that is very lucky. Congrats. :)

I'm very glad to hear Romano may have a friend soon. Really hope the bonding works. Corey is adorable. It was lovely of your brother to do this. He was so obviously thinking of you and Romano with this gesture.

Thank you. Me too. I really hope it works out. :) Corey is an adult and Romano is almost an adult, I've had him just over a year and I got him at about 10-14 weeks old so I'm hopeful this might make it easier to bond them.

Ooooo he's gorgeous! He looks like an Abruvian I think it's called, part Abbyssinian part Peru, my Ziggy has the same fur & also has one brown eye & one blue eye like that, I think it's when one side of their face is white :)

I would be inclined to get him checked over at the vets, as I would be asking myself why would someone want to get rid of such a gorgeous boy? Maybe he has been poorly in the past few months or something.

At least he will have a loving home now, goodness knows what would have happened to him otherwise :(

I hope they get along together :)

considering his age and his not being for breeding I would think of him a rescue :)
he looks as if he's going to have the best possible 2nd chance with you x

Ohh I see! That's so interesting to know. Its funny how his eyes are. I don't think the other is blue like you said.

The reason they got rid of him was because they are moving house and can no longer keep him. They are taking their pet cat and hamster but the guineas cage mates died and he was left alone.

Thank you so much. I think so too. Who knows what could have happened to him otherwise? He's such a sweet guy.

He's timid but at the same time brave. He sits around whilst I'm in the room and its only if I get too close and make a noise he bolts into the pigloo but then he pokes his head out and waits for me to leave or go and sit down.

I don't think it will take me too long to hopefully get him tamer. :)
 
at the end of the day the guineapig was not from a rescue but he did need a home just as much as a piggy in a rescue otherwise he wouldnt of been on gumtree in the first place! Dont feel bad because hes off gumtree you have still given him a loving home rescue pig or not . Every pig deserves a home even pet shop pigs.
 
what a handsome little boy he is, he looks so cuddly, i wouldnt be able to out him down. lets hope once he is out of quarantine that he gets on well with his hopefully soon to be buddy

He is very handsome and very good when in your hands. :)
He's more skittish in his cage but hes quickly learning.
