New Shed Day

Can’t wait to see your new shed!

(I’m a little jealous! I was supposed to get a new shed back in late spring but with lockdowns etc all plans were put on hold. Got to wait until next spring now 😞 )

How exciting.
Don't forget to document it and maybe add it to the housing threead on sheds - people are always after good advice on setting up a shed so It would be really helpful.
Will do we are basically giving them free roam of the whole shed, so just need to get it up, get the Lino down and then decide how to configure it inside 👍🏻

Almost there! We have just come in 😩. Lino to lay, new less steep ramp to fit. Re using the sides of the old hutch to make a permanent area for the piggies and a few more hides to go in. Thermometer ordered and Shelves to go in then I think we are all done. Oh and a bit more painting! I hope the boys enjoy it once we move them in 😍E55F7949-EABA-4A2B-853A-6D37DFC650AB.jpeg0A04184D-3D4A-4916-B8F8-FAB44AE17B5A.jpeg9BD1AFF8-7C5E-4C0D-9160-11DDA0EAAC13.jpeg

Looks lovely! They are going to be such happy little critters with all of that space 🙌

They seem to love it and much easier to poop pick👍🏻 We’ve decided to use bath mats in the bottom area and fleece and filled the top area with shavings and hay. Put 2 heat pads in last night and they seem happy enough. Was chilly today though so heat pads have been in today as well. I’ve broached then subject of getting heat in there and ordered some bubble wrap for insulation 👍🏻

Yes, I tried to post a video last night but wouldn’t work. I’ll take some photos later 👍🏻

Some better photos after a tidy up. Both seem happy, we have 2 hay racks,1 hay tray, top area filled with shavings and hay, 2 water bottles. 2 hides and 1 tunnel. Currently have Lino, with play area mats under the ramp. Then topped with puppy pads and then bath mats, fleece and a towel. We are using puppy pads to figure out where they pee the most and then will swap theses for fleece liners. Next job is to insulate the shed but we are using snuggle safe pads as well.

So we’ve order the heater and the insulation for the shed , so that’s the job for this weekend.
Honestly can’t believe how much they have come on being in their new home.
Mittens seems to have got much bigger and they are both getting a lot more curious of us when we go in and clean the poop.
I find the best method to be picking all the covers up and then going in and sweeping the floor and then I get In and kneel down on a clean puppy pad to get the harder to reach areas.
Just now they were both running round me and coming over without being scared at all.
Have to say I did not realise they would require so much room but glad we have invested in them.
With working from home at the moment it’s nice to have somewhere I can go sit and just watch them running about (does that sound daft?) it really helps me switch off for a bit.
Kids love going in and visiting them as well and once the heating is in I won’t worry so much about them. For now we are putting extra blankets over the hutch area, and we have a few snuggle heat pads to keep them warm. Apologies if I am boring you all with my posts 🥰

It doesn't sound daft just to go in and watch them for a while! I also work from home and that's just what I do. I always have my morning coffee sitting in the shed with them once the children have left for school.
