New Sows...are They Fighting?

Have been home an hr and things look sooo much better! Removed the cosey and the box completely and put the tunnel in there that I plan on using for the loft. They are both sharing the pink bed :)

Just given them some lettuce, hay and tried them with a few dandelion leaves which I actually saw GP A pinch from GP B's mouth and run off! GP B was not impressed but she popcorned as if it was funny! I have noticed when they walk up to one another, instead of GP B going to nip at her, they both stick their noses in the air then GP A runs away pop corning before GP B gets a chance to nip her. I have seen GP B chase GP A a few times though but GP A just popcorns as if it's funny.

I'm so happy to see this!

Thanks guys so much for your help and reassurance, it was greatly needed and am so thankful for it. Hopefully things will continue to only get better :)

If there isn't a sticky already, I think it would be great for us all to post our own stories on one thread of how introductions went. It would be great for tips and some reassurance as to what's going on.

GP A is currently chewing on the bars (already) for more food! Off I go!

So pleased to read this Catherine. Noses in the air is all about who's in charge - literally I'm bigger than you and therefore in charge -but it happens all the time in pairs and is not normally aggressive in itself. Both my pairs do it when wanting to assert superiority (usually over some greens). Sounds like your girls are settling nicely. In a few days if you do decide to put the cosey back in just watch that it doesn't upset the balance again. One of my pairs squabbled constantly over one igloo so it was removed and even months later when they were settled I re-introduced it and it caused trouble again, so I've given it to the other pair who share it beautifully! Enjoy your piggies.

Thank you :)

Hopefully things will only get better...fingers crossed.

I'll try putting it back in once the cage is how I would like it. See how it goes from there :)

Thanks guys! x

Hi how are things now? My two are about 9weeks old and are having a quite a fall out tonight. Elsa is doing lots of chasing round, chattering and mounting ebony. They are eating together although I keep putting separate piles of hay in. Do you think they'll be OK? Its not nice to see or hear

@KatyKitchen this is quite common with sows particularly when they come into season and also while they are sorting out the hierarchy. Mine occasionally have days like this and they are very well bonded. Just watch out for signs of true aggression and make sure no one can get trapped. Good sign that they are eating together nicely.

What age do they usually come into season and how often?! Elsa is
still being a pest but Ebony just wee'd on her! I want to go to bed but I'm worried despite all the good advice I've been reading
