Not everyone will have a thunderstorm - it's a magic mix of getting all the right ingredients together at the right time and going in the right direction. However, some of these storms where they occur tonight could be very dangerous indeed..
Last wednesday, 3 Supercells (think USA-style storms) were spawned on the Pennines and tracked over to Tyneside and thence into the North Sea..... with goilfball size hail that smashed conservatories and dented cars; frequent cloud-to-ground lightning strikes (and damage to property) AND torrential rain (surface water flooding) There were also gale force short-term winds associated with the gust front in front of the storm
Please ensure your animals are safe and secure from the weather tonight.
You can follow any electrical storms progress (via lightning) on here

And you can follow rain developing on here
http://www.raintoday.co.uk/
The atmosphere over the UK is very unstable - storms could break out and develop very rapidly in the space of 30mins anywhere in the risk zones. However as the night continues, you will be able to track progress and find out if you are at serious risk. from the above sites.,,,,,
There is also a useful link below to a thread on a weather forum that is worth monitoring........

Please take care to keep all your loved ones safe.
