New Years Eve - if you are on your own join me!

One New Year, quite a few years ago, I decided to play games with my two young children and also watch a movie with them on New Year’s Eve.
She looks like she’s about to burst out crying 😞

Bless her. Can you go and give her a simple order and tell her she’s doing an amazing job and if she can cope with New Years Eve she will be fine.

Oooo I didn’t finish my story about playing games and watching a movie with my children. Well it ended in disaster. Alex didn’t want to watch the film that everyone else wanted to watch. 🤦🏻‍♀️ and we didn’t play games either. Urgh kids. Ruined my evening (as usually).

Love my kids to bits though.

Oh dear, I've managed to upset my piggies. I have a burning throat, a cough and a cold - I coughed and they ran into their hideys :td:.
I've just got into bed, I've been feeling rough for a few days now, cough, cold, headache & temperature.

Just drunk a nice hot water & to treat myself had a couple more paracetamol 💊

I'm not sure if the dog will wake me at midnight - guess it depends on how upset she is with the fireworks 🎇 :(

Hope every hooman & every pig feels better soon.

N-Nite & wishing you all a happy, healthy, wealthy 2024
🥂 🍾 Xx

That sounds familiar!

Night night. Hope the dog lets it you sleep all night.

Here’s mine now waiting for me to join him. 🤣

My parents just left. We had a nice dinner together. Now I'm off to cage cleaning and watching TV to keep the piggies company during the loudest night of the year. It was pretty quiet into about half an hour ago. Now it's really starting.

Billie gave us a big scare today. Not really sure what the problem is. She seemed to be in pain in the afternoon, but picked up after evening meds and was happily munching dinner.
Since yesterday evening her tummy is all soaked in urine ... and of course no vet that I trust is available at the moment.
Could be a bladder issue or the neurological symtomps in her hind legs getting worse and spreading.

Don’t cry @GPTV. This was normal behaviour for Alex. He always wanted to do what everyone else didn’t. He was a bit difficult. Bless him. He’s an amazing son now 🤣

We had a mash potato and 5 veg tea and are now drinking coffee and watching the last closure of Horse Guards for 2023. Beautiful horses and very smart Life Guards.
Fireworks started here as soon as it was dark despite gale force winds!

Hub and I have worked our way through a traditional Swiss raclette dinner with potatoes, pickles and raclette cheese slices grilled singly in a table grill; it's taken us an hour. So far we have progressed from Countryfile to the Antiques Roadshow. The table grill was wedding present; it was unthinkable to be married and not have a raclette oven for my family! Thankfully, Waitrose in Kenilworth do Swiss raclette cheese, so it has become our traditional New Year's Eve dinner.
We have personalised our favourite pickles and I always serve it with a refreshing raw grated celeriac and apple salad. Hub likes to top his cheese slice with a bit of bacon but this year we have kept it simple.

This picture here gives an impression (forget whats on top of the grill - we keep the potato pot there for the potatoes to stay warm):

Next door's party is only just getting going... :(

I am in and out. Making sure upstairs stays warm enough and the goblins keep their good manners up for the night, hopefully with it chucking it down there'll be less obnoxious fireworks going on. Meanwhile I'm drinking Coke, eating beef Space Raiders and playing videogames like I'm 16 and not 20 years older, lol. My phone though, I woke up and the battery was 1%, so I switched it off to charge it and haven't actually bothered to switch it back on again. I don't think I really want actual people contact tonight, it's been a long week.

But I have cake, and everyone else on the street is apparently out, so fingers crossed for a quiet evening. Like last year, when my smoke alarm started screaming at 3am on the 1st 😒

Please do go and give her some verbal encouragement and give her manager/supervisor the reminder to be kind to her.

Thank you. It’s my round next so I’ll give her some words of encouragement from me and everyone on the forum x

Not a relaxing evening after your special meal Wiebke ☹️ ☹️ hope their party doesn't include fireworks that may frighten your piggies.
All my neighbours seem to be out

I usually does... But we have thick curtains and the piggies are on the streetside of the lounge. They usually do OK.

We have progressed to catching up with University Lectures about AI (artificial intelligence); at least it drowns out next door somewhat. No my personally favourite area of interest...

Sounds like what I've had for the last 3 weeks. Take some painkillers so that you can actually swallow and put Vicks Vaporub on your feet and put your socks on. It helps with the cough (It really does - I was sceptical until I tried it!)

HUGS

I've caught it at the end of December and it's wiped me out again. That was the reason why I was off the forum before Christmas. Very sorry you have it, too. :(

I am just keeping my fingers crossed that I haven't picked up anything again on hub's birthday lunch out. He picked what looked like the busiest brunch place in Leamington.

I've not heard of that before 🤔 but I will try it! Hope you feel better now - hoping I have not got 3 weeks of this to look forward too ☹️

I'm just starting to come out of the other side of this nasty virus/bug thing. It's weird cos my throat is fine and doesn't hurt at all during the day but around 5 and 6 every night it starts being sore again.

I had covid in November. Still coughing now. I went to the doctors last week just to make sure I didn’t have a chest infection (nope) as I’m having a major op in two weeks and didn’t want them cancelling it because of my cough.
