gingy pig
Junior Guinea Pig
Hi, we have Wilfred a loan boar at present, just over a year ( he did have a cage mate but he died) .
Wilfred is it seems, un tamable, he is scared of every single thing & will do wall of death /jump/leap/climb his way out of things. Once you eventually manage to hold him, hes sweet, likes head rubs & has licked in the past- he is just terrified of every single thing.
I have tried sitting quietly talking, feeding herbs, all the things that have worked over the years with our other piggies but nothing seems to work- he has always been like this even with his cage mate :-(
At moment he lives in a 5ft outdoor hutch with the girls on full view so he can chat to them, I'm wondering if a small indoor cage is the way to go? we tried it before but was worried he was going to break a leg in the bars the way he did wall of death to avoid us.
I dont want to neuter him as post op he will be crazy & fear he will hurt himself, so contemplating finding a young male to bond him with.
any taming tips?
