As my boys have been with me for two weeks I thought I’d start a photo thread for them!

They’re comfortable enough now that I can get some better photos so I thought I’d show off my four month old twin pig brothers

First: Noodle!

He’s definitely the dominant one and loves a good rumble. He can be found strutting around the cage morning and evening showing the dustpan, microwave, and kettle who is boss. His favourite things are climbing the bars at the first hint of coriander and running through tunnels

And second: Tofu!

Shyer than his brother but gaining in confidence every day, Tofu is a huge fan of a good old hay pile. He also likes to take naps in corners and steal lettuce from his brother. He doesn’t really like being out in the open but for coriander he will do anything

The boys seem to get on really well, especially for teenagers :inn: When Noodle is rumblestrutting away Tofu just looks at him as if to say, “And?” Tofu is also a wheeker and he likes to announce himself as he walks, so there’s a steady stream of noise from the cage all day now, I love it

They have learned that when the hooman moves, that means food!

As they are quite confident now I’m going to attempt their first floor time tomorrow - will report back how it goes! Thanks for reading about my favourite boys :luv:

They are SO handsome! Glad to hear they're settling well.

Beige/cream coats are such a weakness for me

Lovely boys! Sounds like they are settling in nicely! :luv:

Aw, gorgeous boys, sounds just like my old boys Bill and Ted x

They’re honoured by the comparison!

Thank you so much everyone, I’m biased but I think they’re very handsome too :luv:

So we had a go at floor time today but I kept it short as they were very timid - I don’t think I had enough hidey spaces out. Going to keep it to short bursts out of the cage while they’re still settling I think, it’s only been two weeks after all

I popped them back in a nice clean cage with a new tunnel and plenty of fresh hay and they’re very happy again so I don’t think I traumatised them completely  and they’re still hand feeding veg so we’ll get there. I’m trying not to be too disheartened, I know it’s slow steps and patience with guineas

They had a go at your tunnel once they were back in the cage and they love it - I have never seen so much popcorning! Thank you so much for making two very happy piggies (though they haven’t quite figured out they can go through the tunnel yet 😂)

So glad they are loving life!

I think they are! Thank you for looking after them so well before 🥰 Noodle says hello

Haha! Those photos are funny! Well as long as they are enjoying it, it doesn’t matter how!

Noodle and Tofu are quite stunning piggies.
I did have do a double take though to make sure you hadn’t sneaked in a photo of Phoebe

She‘s gorgeous
And gosh! She does look exactly like Tofu, they’re mirror pigs! I have him in a similar pose here:

We had lots of successful hand feeding today and the boys have started coming out when my carer is here - she’s here 3 days a week and at first they would hide but they’re definitely feeling more and more confident!

They’ve also now figured out how to go through the tunnel...though Noodle is still a fan of sitting directly on top of it 😂 their personalities are indeed starting to show, I think I have a couple of cheeky chaps on my hands

We had successful floor time today! I had to clean the cage out and instead of popping them in the box I set up a little pen in the kitchen and they were brave enough to go exploring!

Follow the leader!

The tunnel from @Lavinia is still a hit!

Now they’re back in the nice fresh cage and they’ve head butted everything around to their liking. My interior design skills clearly need some work 😂

I put in two new hideys and Noodle immediately curled up in one and fell asleep

I am so in love with these boys. I’ve had a couple of successful lap times now and they’re settling so well, still keeping time outside the cage short. They’ve been gaining weight too - Noodle is now 919g and Tofu 910g and they’re almost five months old!

More time out of the cage today while I did a clean/changed the liner. I have graduated to being allowed to give Noodle chin scritches  he seems quite pleased, though Tofu isn't quite sure what's going on 😂

Noodle also just gave me the fright of my life by leaping out of the back of his hay tray! He seems fine, no limping and he's zooming about as usual but my heart nearly burst out my chest. The tray isn't particularly high (it's lower than the height of a C&C grid) but still... don't do that Noodle! He's actually a very agile piggie, he's always climbing up the hideys and the bars (and on his brother). The cage is on a stand thankfully so at least I won't find him running around my living room one morning!

Here's the little houdini looking innocent as anything:

Aww they seem to be settling in great! Offices do love to jump and climb on hideys when they are young!

A small piggie update:

My partner and I had them out when she was round and both boys decided to share the same cuddle sack  they were very squished in there! After a lot of squeaking and some encouragement from the hoomans, Noodle decided to go explore the tunnel instead. Every other hidey I have has two exits but I use the cuddle sacks for transporting them - one piggie at a time, they just had other ideas!

They’re both so comfortable in the cage now that I’ve been able to remove the blankets I had pegged over it completely. Tofu’s favourite place is his tunnel

3547F276-E0AD-4B87-AD07-8BA9BA137CE7.webp

And Noodle loves this cardboard box - a perfect place for a nap on a hot day

Tofu also likes the box, but hay is still his favourite - he’s a champion burrower!

They’re both delights and they brighten my day, honestly. Best thing I’ve ever done, adopting them  their personalities are coming through more and more and they’ve found their voices - I’ve got two little wheekers whenever I stand up or go near the fridge! Here they are at dinner (Noodle still loves climbing on anything and everything!)

Aww what a lovely update! Piggies will always try to get in the same hidey 😂😂

It's been a while, so I thought I'd just post an update on my two boys as this forum continues to be a source of excellent knowledge to calm my new-owner nerves!

Noodle and Tofu are loving life. They have survived the heatwave-full summer, just about (though this week seems determined to spike again, I've got the ice pods back in the cage...) and they're generally two very confident happy piggies now. Looking back at the first photos from when I brought them home, it's hard to imagine they're the same piggies!

I no longer need to have any blankets pegged over the cage, they're more than happy pootling around in the open between hideys and I've even seen them both napping right out in the open before! Never thought I'd see that. They both love hay piles so I make sure to have plenty available for them to rummage through to their heart's content

There are two piggies in this picture, believe it or not!:

IMG_2350.webp

They're also growing more and more confident out of the cage. They both love to be stroked now, which is really nice as I wasn't sure they'd be cuddly - I know not all pigs are. My two do enjoy curling up on my lap on weigh day though! They're also growing like little champs - they were both 800g when I brought them home and now they're 1037g and 1039g at eight months old. Though I'm not surprised with the way they both devour coriander 😂

Tofu stares into your soul:

IMG_2196 2.webp

Paper bags are also a hit! I'm lucky as I get my prescriptions delivered every two weeks and they always come in a paper bag, so I have a lifetime supply which makes the boys very happy. Noodle got himself into a bit of a pickle though - he does like to squeeze into tiny spaces (he's absolutely fine!)

IMG_2198.webpIMG_2255 2.webp

But nothing beats curling up in a comfy hidey for a rest

That's about it for an update - two very happy boys and a very happy hooman. I love sitting and watching them play together, chasing each other and wheeking to their heart's content (especially whenever I walk past the fridge). They've both discovered popcorning, too, and when they get going it's the best thing to watch. They set each other off all the time! Guinea pigs are such joyous animals and I feel very lucky to have two such lovely boys to brighten up my life - and thanks to this forum I'm able to give them a much better life than I would otherwise!

Aw that's so lovely they're relaxed and enjoy affection now. They're adorable. A blonde guinea pig is on my wish list, (or whatever you call this colouring).

Happy New Year everyone!

Thought I'd share the way Noodle is heralding in the new year - with a good old nap!

It's also a bit of a special moment for me because it's one of the first times I've found him napping out in the open and he hasn't scurried off to hide the second he noticed me. This time, he lifted his head, looked at me, and lay right back down to carry on sleeping.

And please excuse the wonkiness of the bed he's lying in - I made it and I am still learning how to sew!
