Partner got the shock of his life the other day when he poked his head into the piggie room and found Noodle perched on top of the carrot cottage! Neither of the boys have ever managed to get up there before. It's the rabbit sized carrot cottage and usually they eat the roof by getting up on their back legs, and I have to tip it over for them to get the middle bits when they've chewed through most of the base

We went on a stealth mission over the next few days trying to catch the little rascal on camera. Partner eventually saw him getting up there and he did it by jumping from the bottom of the cage straight onto the roof? I had no idea guinea pigs could jump like that! Is Noodle just acrobatic or am I ignorant on piggie powers? Tofu seems not to have learned how to do it, unless he's sneakier and I just haven't caught him

I've seen Noodle getting down a few times now and he jumps down quite gracefully to be honest, so I'm not concerned about him injuring himself. I have made sure to move all hideys with a roof away from the edge of the cage though...

I think I might have seen other piggies on here learn how to get up there? Does anyone else find their piggies in strange places they shouldn't be?

I honestly don't know if it is unusual, but my boys have done the same on their log hides 😂 they did it before we had them together, so maybe for a better vantage point next door? haha

Looks a bit of a squeeze up there for Noodle! He must find it comfy.

Our Hector 🌈 used to love jumping on top of a large carrot cottage. I once found him on top of a step stool(taller than a carrot cottage!). I had to tip the carrot cottage eventually, as you can see in this photo it got a bit dangerous.

Glad Noodle isn't alone! He's shredded all the carrot off the top, I don't think his brother got a look in lol. He's also not bothered to go up there since

Yes it is a bit tight for him with the lid down, another reason I was amazed to find him up there! Your rainbow boy looks lovely xx he's really torn through the roof hasn't he! Noodle didn't get quite that far but he has shredded all the carrot. I'll probably cut it up into pieces once they've nibbled through the sides, it's getting rather wobbly

Hamish, Hector’s brother, would work his way round the edges, but would not jump on top!
Our carrot cottages always ended up upside down like a boat. There is a whole thread devoted to carrot cottage demolition. Have a search and see if you can find it.

Bert and RB 🌈 pal Jellybaby used to love jumping onto the top of the carrot cottage - it had to be the large one so they could fit through the door 😂 now Bertie is a senior chap, the big cottage comes out at floor time and he has a little ramp to help him get to the top under supervision. His new pal Hutchie has no interest at all.
