Nora has her bladder stone removed yesterday and I was going to update here since I had asked for advice but 2 of the 5 kittens also had surgery yesterday! Nora is doing well, the surgery went without complication. She spent most of yesterday hiding and was a bit lethargic. Today she is out a bit more but definitely not her usual bossy self. She’s probably annoyed at my every 30 minute checks to make sure she’s doing okay lol! I spent the whole time all the babies were in surgery pacing my home nervously, I was especially nervous about Nora as she isn’t the young lady she used to be!
The kittens which I’ve also posted on here because I wanted to share them with someone and I don’t do the whole Facebook etc thing lol also had surgery. 2 of them had their eyes removed yesterday from severe untreated conjunctivitis. They are also doing well and recovering wonderfully. We did find out the 3rd baby with the pink eye will not need her eye removed but is cross eyed from the damage the illness did. All 5 kittens are expected to make a full recovery which is wonderful news as it’s been touch and go in the few days they’ve been with us.
So in other words last night we didn’t get much sleep around here, did I also mention I have a 5 month old teething baby? oh well better days are to come!

What did the kittens have their op for?
Both of them had an eye removed because of severe conjunctivitis - hadams33 rescued them  & has sorted lots of TLC & veterinary treatment for them :D

I'm so glad to hear all went well and sending a truckload of healing vibes for a full & speedy recovery to Nora & the kittens
A big hug to you for being such a wonderful, caring person too & taking on such a lot of poorly babies.
From the girls & I xx

Aw, glad to hear Nora is making a good recovery. Good on you for caring for these 5 kittens, I’m sure they will manage fine with just one eye x

What did the kittens have their op for?

They had conjunctivitis is the eye so bad their eyelids were popping out due to ulcers in the eye! With medication we were able to help the eyelid but both of them were completely blind in the eye and the eye itself was infected. We decided it would be best to not treat the eye but remove it!

So glad to hear everything went well for them all. Hope you catch up on your sleep now the worst is over.

Nora update! She screamed at me for veg which was 5 minutes late this morning so I’d say she’s recovering well :)) also gave me a good rumble for petting her while she was eating
Also something else about one of the kittens. Miss Evelyn who’s my favorite and will be staying with us , I noticed she had a white dot behind her ear. I touched it and it started draining black pus! Grabbed a tissue and the white dot RETREATED INTO HER HEAD :yikes: we went to the vet and they removed this fellow from her head that they named Eddie! It’s a bot fly and now she has a hole in her head!

The bot fly that was in the poor girls head! Must have been so uncomfortable.

Her head after having it removed! She will always have a small scar!
All 5 kittens have homes for when they have recovered. 2 will be staying here, which yes means I’ll have 5 cats lol. The other 3 are going home to be the only pets in the home of my dear friend who was with me when they were found in the shed!

😳Omg I would have freaked, those poor kittens ☹
So glad they all now have amazing homes 😊

It was disgusting! I screamed a bit when it moved in her head. Now we’re on bot fly watch as she could have as many as 15 of them appear!!

I would have screamed as well. I watched a video of a girl who had bot flies in her arm it was disgusting :vom:. I hope poor little Evelyn doesn't have anymore of them.

Update!! Today I am sad!
Both Nora and all the kittens went to the vet for a post surgery checkup and the kittens got their first shots! The 3 kittens who aren’t staying with me went off to my friends home where they will live the rest of their days! My heart has 3 kitten shaped holes as I miss Octavia, Opal and Fitz :( On the positive post op for everyone is looking great but Evelyn does have an infection where the bot fly was.

Aw, poor you, I saw a programme on the TV about Bot Fly, how awful, thank goodness we don’t have them in the UK
Wishing everyone a very speedy recovery x
