Lancarra
New Born Pup
He doesnt chew as vigorously as usual and I need to push small bits into his mouth and keep stimulating him to chew but it goes in! I am keeping him on his own overnight so I can see poo production
Aw, poor lad, glad you got him to see Kim, he sounds just like what the local vet left my Ted in (A right old mess!). They are the best and most experienced vets when it comes to guinea pig dentals. They have years of experience and the right tools for the job too.UPDATE
we have been, he's had his dental (again) kim said the very back teeth hadn't been touched so mouth couldn't close properly he also had ulcers which were filled with rotten food and bits of tooth,( why didnt the first vet see any of this, they said there was a smell in his mouth which is usually rotting impacted food?)
He needs to start eating so need to poke bits in his mouth and has much higher level of metacam.
So glad I took him he was never going to get over this, i knew it was teeth and nothing else, kim said same, he is bright in himself.
Thankyou all for you recommendation, I would have been looking at euthanasia otherwise
Thanks should I expect he may not be too interested tonight? Kim did say vital to get him chewing he goes back in 2 weeks
I think if he is not eating for himself then start syringe feeding him but keep offering him little morsels of foodThanks should I expect he may not be too interested tonight? Kim did say vital to get him chewing he goes back in 2 weeks
Great news!Eating grass by himself now and others things as well when I'm not looking he feels fuller, he does find it difficult to pick up food as incisors were taken down short but vet said they will grow back quickly.
A bit different to a week ago!
Aw great news, his incisors will grow back quickly, that’s one of the common mistakes that most vets make, guinea pigs have long incisors compared to rabbits.Eating grass by himself now and others things as well when I'm not looking he feels fuller, he does find it difficult to pick up food as incisors were taken down short but vet said they will grow back quickly.
